I just watched the video and was amazed to hear him speak. His points about the whole race thing with the idea that Obama could have been Muslim and "so what if he is/was?" really remind me why I like this man so much.

Obama just gained a huge support from him and I'm glad for it.

Yea...Colin Powell's a good endorsement...

Right...

[keeps mind of history of Colin Powell]

We are talking -the- Colin Powell right? And you're sure this isn't heavily backed by race or elitism? Just a little bit of a thought considering his history over the last decade or so...

Uh?

Last I checked Powell had a LOT of issues with the Bush administration and was almost practically ousted because of everything that had gone done against him. Go all the way back to 95 with the threats of running for president and all the WMD crap back around that time as well.

And hey, Shadic, don't point fingers about whoever I listen to if and when I do. That's like pointing fingers at you for listening to a democratic-controlled media.

Hiryuu, have you been digging in the tinfoil lately or something?

No...it's...more or less the truth.

But I guess I should digress. The fact is that it doesn't really matter which way Powell goes. I guess we shouldn't have expected a push for it after everything that was done for (read: to) him. I mean an example being McCain's recommendation for him being on the FCC which Clinton bought into...guess he doesn't really stick.

Assuming that you're right in that Powell was kicked out (by a republican administration) and is still upset about it, how pray tell does that make it true that him recommending Obama is because of race or "elitism"?

That's simple enough. Since he was a Republican the entire time (more like quasi-) and then swapped Democrat at the last minute was what made this newsworthy.

But given that there are a lot of things that Powell said during that time that Obama clearly disagreed with now (Iraq, WMDs in Iraq, war in general) and then sides with Obama in the last minute...considering all the facts in the matter of his Republican history among other things...really doesn't make a bit of sense and...

Ah hell screw it...you know if I threw out a bunch of reasons anyways it really wouldn't do me any good?

I'll just say 'fuck it...I'm voting McCain because I'm a racist' or something. It'd be the same either way in strong democrats minds anyways whether I came up with good reasons or not. What I'd say will not result in an epiphany regardless of the facts it seems...

you find it difficult he would honestly agree with him for valid reasons, so you ignore them and say it's because of race/elitism?

Uh no...I'm saying it'd be difficult for him to agree with me if -I- showed valid reasons regardless.

Regardless, done here.
