For as long as I can remember (okay, it hasn't been that long), EA was the top third party publisher, but now with guitar hero, Activision has passed them. But they did have help with Tony Hawk series and Call of Duty (even with the 3 installment being crappy).

Well, that would likely be in part to the Guitar Hero revolution. I mean even KONAMI made its hard in the business with their BEMANI chain (DDR, IIDX, etc.) a while back. Guitar Hero, however, has proven to be a hell of a lot more popular and probably a lot better on those that are wanting to get better with their fingers, not their legs.

Oh well, can't all be lazy.

Sidenote: Destructoid is awesome.

Sidenote2: I would expect that not to continue after Rock Back comes out to compete with Guitar Hero, and Madden comes out to give EA ridiculous amounts of money.

I'm not into rhythm, WWII, or skateboarding much. So chances are I've played more EA than Activision games lately. Oddworld Stranger's Wrath and Burnout 3 were published by EA. Both turned out well.

Oddly enough I don't own a single game from EA. I may have owned one back on the SNES and that was when I had NBA Live '98 and Acclaim was worth the time with NBA JAM.

I have more games owned by ATLUS than I think any other...[looks] That or KONAMI.

Daily Cycle II ~ 1255
Burnout3 is probably one of the most fun games I've played in a while, if only because being able to blow shit up by ramming into it at 157MPH is fucking fun

Cough.

Guitar Hero is really just Stepmania on an alternate controller... I never got why it was so popular, considering it's really just timed button presses.

Then again, who knows...

There's just something about holding a (fake) guitar and rocking out with your friends.

Iunno.

Then again, people are fascinated by getting correct beats to verify their timing is superior to their grandma.

How else was DDR survived almost a decade? :\

DDR actually has other benefits, like promoting exercise (okay, stomping the shit out of arrows) to impress your friends.

Guitar Hero, uh,... doesn't.
Who knows, maybe it's the new air guitar.

Drag's Post #49
It's more like "oh my god, this heavy metal is awesomerockalicious", coupled with the feeling of satisfaction that you know how to play a fake guitar and pretend to be playing an actual song.

That's all anyone ever did in my dorm floor, they mostly played guitar hero all day.

Oh, will you shut up?

Guitar Hero, and ANY music video game is NOT made to compensate for someone's inability to play an actual instrument. It's a game. It's for fun. That's all it is. Very few people, if any, treat guitar hero as an actual substitute for musicianship, and even less think they're actually gaining real musical talent (aside from rhythm and beat keeping) from it.

I'm sick people who deride music games as lesser than the real thing.

Actually, Guitar Hero is made to compensate for someone's inability to play an actual instrument. Harmonix was founded to help bring nonmusicians the joy of playing/creating music. They did it through Frequency, Amplitude, and now Guitar Hero.

Okay... um.

I agree with you, but I also still stand by what I say. Thus, my wording is shit. Someone try to say what I want to say but can't figure out how to.

Eh, EA. They still own Myst, whose future is murky... unless it somehow becomes a basketball game.
