http://openpandora.org/

Pre-orders started today... not sure if the 3000 units were reserved but there's always the second batch. I've pre-ordered mine, surprised it never got mentioned here.

I'm looking forward to mine.

As cool as this is, I fear the homebrewers prefer and will stick with the mainstream consoles. I know there's a good amount of backing behind it, but I don't think as many people will be willing to latch on to it, at least, not yet... We'll have to wait and see I guess.

Sounds olike that GamePark32x or whatever it was; wide open, supposedly easy to develop for, but (surprise) it is nowhere of the hit that anything else was.

I wouldn't buy it unless there was a lot of good reasons. And I mean software wise, not hardware wise.

Oh comon... All they need is a Ridge Racer port and a little Kaz Harai marketing. Then it'll sell like hotcakes!

Since it has a keyboard and game controls and a decent CPU, most stuff should just compile without modification. It'll run a vanilla linux distro compiled for ARM, even, which would be enough to get a vanilla snes9x or whatever running for it.

There's no need to defend yourself here. I think I can speak for all of us when we say it's pretty cool and the hardware on it is not something to shake a stick at. I just don't think it will fly when you can get a Wii or Xbox 360 for that price...

I suppose it is a bit pricy but it's also pretty niche. But compare it to PDAs or cell phones. Those are much more and have worse hardware which in some cases you aren't even allowed to use without permission from the phone company.

I was mostly just kinda annoyed about the "It wont have any software for it." argument, since, because of the nature of it, doesn't make sense.
