Exactly where I was before playing yesterday, including the many game overs

(now at Wily 2)

As for not taking damage at all, I'll have to stop depending on E-tanks (I've sometimes used 2 or 3 on one boss) before even starting to think about it

Didn't want to fight anyone else without getting the right power first...

I only reached 2 of the bosses when I first I went through the 8 stages, and didn't even beat any until later ... then it got a bit better, but now I'm having a hard time on the Wily stages

(and it really doesn't help that they all have to be done in one sitting, even saving and reloading later resets it to Wily 1)

I got owned at the Wily 3 boss just now, I guess I'm not finishing it tonight

Hornet Chaser is by far the best weapon in the game, you should start spamming that at mini-bosses, though I hear Black Hole Bomb works well on the Dragon, I've never tried. I think by far the worst part of the game is that Quickman-ish lava room in Wily 1 though. It took me forever to be able to do that without getting killed.

Your best bet for that one is to Rush Coil as soon as you enter that room.

I haven't tested these yet because I've been playing Wario Land, but...
• I understand you can charge up the Magma Bazooka like you can with Atomic Fire in Mega Man 2.
• I've heard that the concrete shot thing can stop the huge fire beams in Wily's castle. Though I do what Xkeeper said: use Rush Coil to spring the heck out of there. I drop back down on the left side (middle cannon) and quickly use Rush Jet to get across. It's a tricky room, but concrete might make it simpler.

I have to say I was amazed how hard this game was opposed to its predecessors.

A friend of mine argues that Wily was tougher in MM7, although I beg to differ by a huge margin.

And on that note, still haven't beaten him. Lost my patience and the like, what with having no supplies and dying so many times. I'll probably stock up and try my hand at it again in a week or so.

And the reason most games seem easier is taht the standard is Megaman 2, the regular difficulty was difficult... Normal was a dumbed down version of the game with easier bosses and the like.

I doubt I'll be able to kill Wily on my first try.

No continuing: That shouldn't be too hard. I'll use all my bolts on lives and E-Tanks.
No dying: Erm... E-Tanks. Lots and lots and lots of them.
No getting hit: *sob*

I'm on the Wily levels now and I wept.

Next time I play through this, I'm starting with Galaxy Man. He's an absolute pushover with the vanilla Mega Buster, and using his weapon is almost like cheating.

Oh, by the way... I always use Laser Trident on Magma's dragon, it takes about 7 hits. Laser Trident itself is a fun weapon that I abuse quite a bit - as close to the mystical Metal Blade as you'll get.
