Out of nowhere, emu_kiddid who was working on an N64 emulator for Wii/GCN, collaborated with some guys and are making a PS1 emulator for Wii/GCN. It runs Chrono Cross at 90fps, sound isn't emulated, and when they do it will most likely kill the speed largely. FMV's seem to have random hangs, as do some games gameplay. It looks nice though.

Heh.. There was some talk awhile back about whether this would be possible or not; and while I argued reasonably that this could (and eventually would) happen, I just got scoffed at for the very notion of its possibility. It is rather nice to see I was right after all, and pretty awesome to hear of such incredible progress with the emulator already. I have to say too, while I don't really need something like this I certainly could have quite a bit of fun using it.. so count me in among those looking forward to its completion. (However many ages that may be from now. )

I see no reason to believe why it wouldn't be possible considering Bleem For Dreamcast was only shot down by Sony Themselves suing the company to the ground. (and what little we got of it in the end was impressive anyway.)

It runs Chrono Cross at 90fps

Well obviously speed isn't going to be an issue.

And why wouldn't someone who wanted to play MMX4 get the MMX Collection (with 1-6) instead?

The MMX collection is terrible. 'Nuff said.

I'm not sure why I've gotten such a fuss over the possibility of it either.. But many a time I've been in the discussion of it and had trouble convincing anyone of how it could be done. *shrugs* At least I have proof now the next time someone gives me a hard time about it.

Hm? I've played the SNES games on there and they seem to be good emulations... does it have problems once you get to the 32-bit titles?

Mega Man X5 and Mega Man X6 have their rumble support removed entirely.

The script for Mega Man X has been altered slightly in some places. For example, X yells “Damn” during the intro level. Sigma also doesn't say "have" anymore in a dialog. Also X no longer shouts “Hadouken” when performing the hidden fireball move of the same name.

The version of Mega Man X3 used on the collection is the 32-bit CD-based version (which appeared on the Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and PC), with added FMV scenes and a remixed soundtrack, which received mixed reviews among fans. The SNES version (or its soundtrack) is not included.

Mega Man X and Mega Man X2 have streaming sound-tracks, rather than directly ported/emulated sound-tracks. This results in a fade and restart after each music track has repeated a few times.

Mega Man X6 in both versions has had its Japanese voiceovers completely removed in cut-scenes (but the Japanese intro theme was kept). It also has Zero's "Up+Attack" move listed as "Down+Attack", but it's still coded to the original version (however, contrary to popular belief, the "Down+Attack" descriptor was a part of the original PS1 version of X6, even though the move is in gameplay Up+Attack).

In Mega Man X4, Slash Beast now roars several times at once, attacking less.

The game-play for the original three X games is also faster due to the occasional slow down effect that was caused by the SNES system's limitations no longer being present.

Because of emulation problems with the special chip on Mega Man X2, sometimes the sound effects will cut if more than one plays.

Some very minor mistakes occur in Mega Man X5, where the word "it's" had somehow been revised to "8's". "B's" have shown up in odd places as well. This is rumored to be a side-effect of reinserting the script after initial retranslation.

Just making sure - This is something able to be installed through the homebrew channel, and then it uses the SD card for games, correct? That's what the article led me to believe.

Sure, when it comes out.

MMX collection wasn't too great, but it still beats not playing those games in the first place. However yeah, X1-3 sucked in that game, I mostly just play it for X4-6, since ZSNES gives a pretty good approximation of the X2-3 games.

Besides, I have X1 at home anyways

I don't have many gripes about the collection, based on what I've played, but the video quality in X4 is worse than the original. It looks like they took the original PlayStation video and ran it through a converter. Why didn't they use the higher-quality PC versions instead?

(oh right, that might require some effort)

Heh, mainly because I didn't know there was an X Collection.
