Unlikely I'd be afraid, as I have no fear of being thrown around/shaking vehicles. I am also skilled in dealing with ear problems; having 20+ ear infections will do that.

...

I would have no problem, really. The first thought I'd have if the plane was gonna crash would be "Well, hope I die instantly or survive"--I have no real fear of death, and my pain tolerance is high--but I'd hope to make a clean transition one way or another. Otherwise, I'd be fine surviving and being able to say "Yeah, I survived a plane crash, who are you to question my durability"

I've flown a few times in my life and it was fine. I was never horrible nervous... and once was either september or october 2001, when everyone was afraid to fly. As far as being sick, it never happens, and I used to get motion sickness in cars all the time, which luckily stopped some years ago. I also have the ability to depressurize my ears, as long as they aren't too pressurized or having some sinus thing.

I don't know, but I can do it too. It's useful for plane flights or driving through underwater tunnels.

Actually, I can do the same thing... It's this odd reflex I happen to have. I can do it at anytime, and it makes this odd clicking sound within my ear.

I wonder if that's related to the slight tinnitus I have?

Wait, are you guys talking about being able to push air in and out of your ears...as in able to plug them up whenever you feel?

Cause...I've been able to do that since I was a kid.

All I do is open my Eustachian tubes. I can force air in or out, but it gets painful very quickly. Also, apparently Wikipedia has information on this.

I've been able to do it as long as I can remember, too.

I've been able to do that before when I was younger, but now I have troubles doing it, so I usually leave it to do it by itself.

I usually did it for fun though ...

Same here, althought it's not painful, just addicting. Once I start doing it, it's hard to stop.

Actually, I'm doing it right now

When I did it sometimes, it would get stuck like that and it was a pain to get it back to "normal".

For the most part I'm not afraid.

Just don't tell me the guy in the next seat over is a terrorist.

Worst part of an airplane flight for me is finding something to pass the time, and being stuck in a barely comfortable seat for a few hours.

I'd just sleep the hours away, except coach seats are scientifically engineered to prevent you from doing anything but nodding off. Maybe I'll try first class one of these days.

So the rides on the planes were fine, but on my way from Houston to Vegas I was stuck next to a kid. So I had my headphones on the entire time. And on the flight from Houston to Ft Lauderdale there was a small dog on the plane, but it wasn't a bother. I was shocked since it was barking while at the airport.

No problems from me, but I am very nervous with landings.

I used to have problems with horrid pain in my ears that chewing gum and whatnot couldn't fix. Landing was always worse, for some reason. It's gotten better as I've gotten older, but it still pops up every few flights or so. I have issues with altitude changes while driving too. My ears are stupid-sensitive.

The last flight I took was on an old 19-seater (I think.. didn't actually count, but it was smaaall), one with the big exposed propellers on the wings. The whole flight was incredibly shaky and loud. I have an overactive imagination, so I ended up thinking about what would happen if it managed to shake the plane apart somehow, and other such nonsense. It wasn't a pleasant flight. lol

Other than the ear thing, I don't usually have problems with flights. It's quite enough though, in my opinion. :p
