Sometimes, when I type in Wordpad, or the forums, my cursor randomly goes back 5 to 20 spaces, and I wind up typing in the words I previously typed. I am very certain I'm not touching my touchpad while I type. Anyone know what might be up?

You trying to say that your keyboard backspaces that amount or that it scrolls back in the text that far? I'm guessing backspace.

It could be something with drivers or the actual hardware itself. Does it do it instantly or does it take its time and delete it all?

It just moves the cursor back; no deletion.
Just for clarification.

I don't know what's up with that, but I'd like to know how to fix it too since the same thing happens on my sister's laptop. It's very annoying especially if you're trying to type something long. All of a sudden you start typing two rows up in your text because the cursor has a mind of its own.

Mouse cursor has a mind of its own? Freaky...

Wonder if it's a driver issue...I mean updating the drivers can't hurt but that sounds like either a driver complaint or a touchpad acting wonky. Especially since it's intermittent.

That happened all the time on my laptop. I just had to keep the cursor away from the text...

Suddenly I remember seeing an option in the touchpad drivers for some laptop to disable the touchpad while typing. And I've seen touchpads that work without actually touching them...

Try updating the drivers (if possible) and then looking through the driver options.
