Seeing as there aren't many interesting polls in this section, figure I'd see what you all think.

Apparently the US will get a 160GB soon from what I hear. Ridiculous... Seems like there's news about such things every few weeks. They just won't stop.

Mine's an 80GB. Does the job. I'm not actively hunting for a 20/60, but I'll try to grab one if I find it.

How does this have anything to do with the topic at hand? And apparently Eon cares, so your question is redundant.

Sony has to have a few tricks up its sleeves but I dunno what they will do.

I thought it was rather obvious that I was saying this, but whatever.

i own one, and i don't really care. the only thing keeping me from regretting buying it over the 360 is silent hill and backward-compat with most ps2 games. (except mana khemia and atelier iris 3)

and for the record, i don't care about the final fantasy series

Right now, I don't know. Sony's not doing very well, but they might come up with something.

I personally don't want a PS3 right now, but maybe later if I see a game I want on that system.

I just don't like how they keep coming out with all these models. It's a pain in the ass trying to remember which one's are backwards so we can let the customers know.

The new 80 gigs that we have are not backwards. I just found this out yesterday.

My best bet, is that they'll release at least two before the end of the year. Maybe a 120 and a 160 gig.

Apparently, a PS3 costs as much as a standard blu-ray player. So if I was searching for blu-ray players, I might buy the PS3 and install Linux for fun, but otherwise nah.

Yeah, there will be several more SKU's until Sony figures out a sure-fire way to get more consoles out there. And people thought MGS4 was going to up them up there, but sales weren't exactly stellar when it came out, but improved. When Sony isn't selling well in Japan (PS2/3 sold very very little last month there and 360 sold 365% more than usual) you know something is wrong. I'm sure there will be a price drop SKU and perhaps one more that is large capacity but not too expensive. They'll figure something out, most likely holidays will cause those to happen. Sony is so deep in shit, it'll be fun to see them dig themselves out though.

Take out the blu-ray player, make it backwards compatible (Ps2 and PsX) and lower the price. That will sell more units. Add a kick ass game with it to make it sell even more.

Aren't some of the games for the device blu-ray? That would mean they couldn't remove it without causing problems.

Damn, you're right. The only reason why it was so much to begin with was b/c of the backwards and the blu-ray. So to make it cheaper they took out the backwards and to try to keep people happy, they added more gigs. Feh.

Stupidly enough, it's mandatory that all disc-based PS3 format games sold worldwide must use blu-ray. Even if not needed by the game in question.

Did I add the second half of MGS4 is weird?

Mostly why I got a PlayStation 2 instead of 3 earlier this year was because they dropped the backwards compatibility ... and then there's only (soon to be) one game I want for it yet, not worth spending $500

I think we only carry one of the lower Gigs, so chance of us carrying a 160 gig are really low :/

Doesn't really matter what size you get.

You can get whatever size you want.

All it amounts to is swapping out the hard drive with a 2.5" SATA drive at whatever size you prefer and dropping the system on it. Even the manual goes through, in detail, about how to go about doing this.

The biggest hard drive for 2.5" SATA on the market, right now, is 500GB.

I already have one, but I do think Sony will try something, because they've not stopped trying since it came out. The hard drive size really doesn't matter though. And I thought that 80 GB did have backwards, but it was just software? There would be no reason to take out software backwards compatibility, because it doesn't cost anything to add, and if it's there to take out, it obviously must already be programmed.

Dropping backwards compatability is a huge drawback, since it limits your library to only PS3 games and none of the others.

There's no excuse, really, and it's surprising they dropped it.

That's what I said, I meant, why would Sony take out backwards compatibility, if they already have software BC for the 80GB, it makes no sense. Although, the 80GB's software BC doesn't seem to be very good it still exists, and removing it entirely would be beyond stupid.
