...Jerry Seinfeld?

He best have a good pitch if he's the guy they're hiring to push Vista onto customers.

Jerry Seinfeld seems a bit outdated, has he really done anything lately? (Other than that "Bee Movie" thing) though Seinfeld reruns are still everywhere.

Though Vista isn't that bad of an operating system if your computer is up to date, I doubt that they'll be able to do much for it's image by now, even with Jerry Seinfeld.

Urg, I read this earlier. I cannot stand Seinfeld...

..not a real Apple fan, but I do enjoy their commercials. Microsoft is going to try hard to beat them. And with Seinfeld, I think I'll just fast forward through them.

Actually, Vista is...still...a pretty bad operating system.

Wouldn't say it so much but I'm at a job where they're attempting to get CNC-based burning tables to cut metal and the software and overall practicality of Vista is a hassle to mess with...mostly due to compatibility and performance of Vista Ultimate vs. XP Professional. SP1 just isn't enough right yet.

For the gamer, I'd dual-boot only for DX10, 10.1 exclusives. Don't install it by itself. It isn't worth it. It's ME2. Wait for 7, if THAT is even worth it.

Well I'm not exactly a power user, but I've been using Vista Ultimate alone on this laptop, without major issue... only real problem were strange permission issues that showed up when I tried to copy some files over from my XP computer wirelessly.

The only real problem that I've come across with Vista Ultimate is that I can't play KOTOR I and II. At least I have them for the Xbox, but I would rather play them on the computer. There's a way around it, but even so, I've heard there are still problems with the games.

I'll just repeat what I said earlier: this can only end in disaster.

Additionally:

AlleyInsider reports that RBC analyst Mike Abramsky is projecting that Apple will ship 3.04 million Macs in the current quarter than ranges from July to September.

You know, I wonder how many Mac owners also buy copies of Windows and dual-boot.

Much better!

I personally can't dual-boot on my eMac, since I lack OSX (and about half of the parts). But I can run Linux on it.

I just saw one of their new commercials....

...at the end of it I declared it the worst commercial ever.

It was too long and I can't figure out if they were trying to sell shoes or churros.

ditto...no mention of vista anywhere. Or is that not the point of the commercial. At the same time, I wasn't even sure as to why Seinfield was talking to Gates.

...and that little shake at the end by Gates....WTF.

Nice try, but overall, a failure.

My guess is that this is some sort of set-up to introduce the Jerry Seinfeld-Bill Gates relationship, and then later commercials will build off of that, and Windows Vista will show up then... or maybe they're following the "do random crap and put our logo at the end" commercial strategy.

It absolutely is that bad of an operating system. It barely runs things that XP ran just fine, it's a ROM hacker/programmer/musician and home sound producer (aka how I'll make money)'s worst nightmare. It's just bad, its slow, its incompatible, and worst of all the layout sucks. It's unnecessarily complicated to find even the simplest of things on the operating system. Ctrl+r is no longer run. My Documents is replaced with "Documents" and no longer right there in the start menu (I'm aware you can put it back, but I shouldn't HAVE to). Also the control panel feels akward, the whole thing feels akward, the way it burns CDs is akward, the way it READS CDs is akward (I had to run XP in a virtual PC to properly read some CDs I burned from XP that ran just fine on every other computer ever, what?), and it just........is horrible. It's like Windows ME rearing its head all over again. And we all know that went over about as successful as a lead balloon filled with Virtual Boys.
