Really, the cafeteria food (despite there being a Chik-fil-a, a pizza joint and a cafeteria in the same building) around here is actually, y'know, good.

Cafeteria food isn't bad around here, although some days, there's nothing good to eat. Of course if there's nothing to eat on the main lines, I could always go to the pizza line . The food's generally good.

| Most my life I was at poor public elementary schools, so the food was quite lousy. When I went to college/university/whatever, the food was slightly better, but still made me sick quite often. |

It varies widely, even in the same cafeteria.
For a few examples, in the public schools around here, the chicken and pizza weren't bad, but the hot dogs were regularly discolored and cold.

It's not really the fact that it's food, it's more of that fact that for me, it's free. There's almost always something that I'll feel like eating, which makes it a multi-win situation.

| No. Even in high school I wouldn't even go inside the cafeteria. Lunch from home FTW!

I always bring the same lunch to school every day to avoid the cafeteria food, not because I don't like it (the pasta and pizza looks good), but because I'm really picky and hate most of the food. In fact, those two are the only things I'd actually eat!

I'm afraid of some of the things I've seen served by the schools here. Food should not bounce.
...So I bring lunch every day. Hooray for sandwiches! ____________________ ぱにぽにだっしゅ! (マホ!)

The university's "cafeteria" has rather good food, but it's a bit too crowded for my tastes.
Also very hard to find cups and napkins.
They apparently have pizza and cookies somewhere in there, but uh... I can't find it.

Fo r some reason, they serve pizza every day at mine. And there's a pizza joint right next door, too.

A good chunk of my school's cafeteria food tastes quite decent.
...But it's fucked with my bowels, so no. I never want to see a turkey sandwich again.

Cafeteria at work is basically a health food place.
I go there to buy some delicious vanilla coffee most days before I go to work, but can't be bothered at ALL with any of their selection. That's why I bring a meal to work.

My High School had pizza available every day. Also, french fries. And wrap sandwiches. I liked those the best. My grandmother made them, since she worked in that cafeteria. Turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, provolone cheese, and ranch dressing, all wrapped up in awesome flatbread goodness...
I wish I could have one of those right now...

Elementary School-Middle School, absolute crap. High School, the food is fine, but I don't think there's a single non-pizza based item available. The only things I've ever seen people eating from the cafeteria is pizza or calzones, very expensive too, so I just bring lunch.

Can you explain this one? Is it just a saying I'm unfamiliar with, or did your spaghetti actually have pointy bits of metal?

I think maybe someone took "spaghetti is a staple of any good cafeteria menu" a little too literally...
