So yeah, reading the posts it seems safari, firefox and a few other broswers have been affected by it. There seems to be some argument over what does it though. :/

The Spyware Sucks blog posits here that banner ads transmitting bad Adobe Flash code is responsible, and that makes sense to us.

Or: disable plugins and javascript. Problem McSolved™

Noscript+Adblock-Plus also works really well.

I think it's something you really can't defend against (although it staying in the clipboard is much stranger).

The only real way to prevent something like this is to stop a program from modifying the clipboard; but consider that doing that would remove the clipboard's use entirely.

Even the most obvious path (preventing Flash from modifying the clipboard) is impossible, since many games use the clipboard to store data (e.g., created levels, character information, whatever).

What does that have to do with this conversation?

Global variables seem like a lot better place to store created levels, character information, etc. than in the clipboard. If it's imperative to get data from Flash to the user's hard disk, just prepare the data server-side and initialize a download.
