Yeah, one half year of uptime.

On a laptop.

On Windows.

That's what I'd call "amazing".

Well, I have a few hours of uptime...

Actually, the first thing I was going to say was "that's some impressive battery life"...

Actually, funnily enough, the battery in this thing is probably near dead from getting very little use (usually only when I move the laptop or a power outage hits).

... Wow.
If I didn't have to shut my computer down for updates and hardware maintenance, I'd have almost that much as well.

21:40:56» * @Acmlm_ - [Uptime: 2 days 5 hours 46 minutes 56 seconds]

I blame it on constant rain, power shortages that last a few seconds (just enough to reset the computer, happened a few times within the last week) and not having a UPS

My longest was around 3 months, once again stopped by guess what (although I did get a random crash earlier this year, once)

Wow, half a year...

I wouldn't be able to have it on that long, due to how things start breaking if I leave it on too long.

My Windows 98 machine, which I had for 4 years, had a record uptime of 41 hours. I'm not sure if that's more impressive than your record or not, but they're both absurd.

I think the best uptime I've ever gotten was a week.

I don't really strive to have excessively long uptimes, you see. :U

"Long uptime" is more or less a side-effect of how I use my computer; I prefer stability because I keep so much shit open without saving it or even remembering it's open, going back to it whenever I notice it (sometimes).

Every restart requires me to reopen everything I was working on, get mIRC back to the proper state, sometimes refresh myself on conversations I had recently (since they occasionally contain important information) ... it's a big hassle and I try to avoid it as much as possible.

Having a long uptime is just one of the bragging-right perks of this

I stick with up to 8 weeks of uptime at a time; mainly due to pesky software updates.

I don't keep track of uptime. I usually shut down my computer if a storm is really bad here or if I think it may storm and I am leaving the house.

No, I'm one of those crazy people, too.

I used to leave it on, too, but at some point I realized that my computer was doing pretty much nothing but running IRC (visiting channels that were empty overnight anyway) and as such mindlessly consuming energy, so I stopped doing that

I listen to music on my computer while I sleep, so I don't turn it off.

That sounds fun!

But my computer isn't in my room...

Normally I never turn my laptop off; I only turn it off when it has to go without power for a while. However, it sometimes restarts due to running out of power or when it installs an update that requires a restart, and just a few minutes ago, it restarted for no apparent reason. *shakes fist*

I would have two days of uptime as of now if it wasn't for that restart (I got back from vacation recently, so yeah), but I'm not sure what my maximum uptime is. :/
