Check site. Something I ran across reading stuff in the news today...

"Talk About It". Supposedly, this is one of those approaches on talking to someone anonymously about problems they may be having with other students. The only thing is that it's anonymous, it can go up to near-strip searching AND it doesn't need parental consent (either before or after the search).

Glad I'm out of high school with school that have that. Walk home and hear a kid of yours got searched after noticing they look embarrassed as hell would piss me off. Especially if it was some asshole kid that called it in and it was just to piss on a kid.

I'm all for helping out kids going through punks in high school and teachers intervening like they tend not to do but this is rather stupid...

I've seen this thing constantly on my school's television "news network".

I've never really thought people would use it much. This might help, but there are bound to be some people who do it to mess with someone.

Well, what if it was set to fuck with someone that supposedly had a gun or drugs and they were set up as such? :\

You wanna talk FUN shit...

Sounds like you can also have your car searched or anything of your possession search without permission as well.

Getting more on this because Cabot, AR is getting this and I'm hearing about it over the radio right now...

Gives you an idea of all schools involved as of now... Not up-to-date, apparently.

I don't get how this is different than the present situation, though... if I called up my school (which as far as I know isn't involved, since there's a total of zero MA schools on the list) in some anonymous way, and said (student) was going to be shooting up the school, (student) is going to get searched, and if they drove in, the car too... or am I missing something?

Parental consent's one thing, they'd at least be notified.

The second is the fact that schools getting this would likely have punks more encouraged to fuck with the system. :\

I can already see some students pull something like that at school once my school ever gets in that list. Plus the parents will be notified probably after the search, thus getting the student embarrassed.

There should at least be some sort of punishment for providing false information to them.

Well, that's where anonymity becomes the issue, I suppose... by the time they've realized it's false, the original reporter should be long-forgotten... and if you do keep the names down (even to "not use them") then you probably lose all of the supposed benefits of anonymity in the first place.

Refresh my memory... how is this different from the old way?

People can be morons over the phone just as easily as they can online.

It's just me forgetting about the anonymity that this has. A mistake on my part.
