For hacking, I've found the quaint machete works wonders. Greater damage, and a significantly more satisfying crunch.

It's more a reason of attacking certain people involved that used to be involved in things that no longer exist and haven't for a few years. They still believe that they need to provide their reason for superiority and how big their e-penis is.

I'll grow old, get better jobs in the industry I'm now working in, have a wife and kids and they'll still be at this. In a way, it's really sad and I almost kinda feel sorry for the fact that they have absolutely nothing better to do with their lives. Maybe someday they'll figure it out...but I hope they do before they're 30 or 40. :\

At least I go to work to mechanically work on computers for the benefit of customers that pay near a mill for a machine at the end of the course of it being built. I make a relatively decent wage off this (even after only being there a year). For these guys, they don't get that. Only 15 seconds of adulation. For the depraved, however, this is enough when they aren't getting the attention past being a punk who knows how to code.

I'd be pissed too. Small things become bigger when your mad.

I believe you're pretty wrong. At least when it comes to hacking, xk did plenty of it in the past, so it could be someone taking revenge. If that were the case I'd be careful to call that person some loser who wastes all his energy hacking a board. If the whole story about living in their mother's basement until they're 30 and never getting a job was true for anyone who exploited acmlmboards (let's be honest, this is what happens in every thread after an exploit occurs; "you have no life etc"), Xk would be one of those, except we all know he isn't.

tl;dr: Let's not be hypocrites shall we?

The difference being I kind of, you know, moved on. Oh, and that was three years ago.

Now if I was still going around and abusing holes on every AcmlmBoard I came across, yes, I would fully agree with you on everything. But that's what growing up is about.

You've brought up this argument again and you're getting the exact same reply.

The argument is now different. Let me explain myself. Read the post I quoted, firstly he stated that "You didn't even do anything and then someone wants to hack your board." and we know that that's clearly not the case. Now, about being the same argument, I'm simply saying that if you moved on, why can't this person also move on? It's quite possible and more likely that he/she will move on than of him exploiting message boards forever and ever, etc. Back when you exploited boards I never thought you lived in your mother's basement and spent all your days trying to hack message boards. Ok maybe I did think this, but still!
I guess my point is that exploits happen so many times that it's getting boring to just say the hacker has no life or whatever. We need new material! D:

Shadic, I've had NFF running for 4 1/2 years and I have yet to allow anyone access to my databases for a long period of time. Why? For this very reason -- I don't want them to get pissed off at me if they don't like the decision I make and decide to hack/mess up the board.

Normally I just quietly post a message in the staff forum about it (or main forum if it caused any downtime), though this one was especially sad considering it was a very lame attempt and did no damage whatsoever.

Especially considering this person had previously deleted the entire /jul/ folder due to an error on my part.

I'd say part of this board's charm is maintaining an Acmlmboard heritage. It just wouldn't be the same if lame hack attempts, long time members, the Acmlm-style user interface, or traditions/events, all suddenly disappeared.
