So yeah I'm going to go see this tonight. Anyone else even interested in it? I was a diehard fan of the show back in the day which is why I'm seeing it, but I'm definitely not expecting this to be good, especially considering how badly the last season of the show sucked. Frankly, I'm surprised they actually made it. I remember them talking about making a movie when the show went off the air, and that if they did it would be standalone, feature Mulder and Scully again, and basically have nothing to do with the abomination of a story arc they created during season 9. I'm surprised they actually did something they said they'd do.

The reviews I read say it's boring as hell, and it probably is, but I really don't even care. At this point I'm used to my once great show reeking of ass, and no matter how bad it is, it has to be better than the finale. Plus even though the show and I kind of parted on bad terms, I'm still excited for one last Mulder and Scully fix. Maybe now they'll finally get it on.

Never been a fan of the series and I'm actually shocked that 10(?) years later they decide to make another movie? And it could be bad timing, but maybe they should have released it either right before May or after the summer rush. My guess is that it's gonna get overshadowed by people seeing Dark Knight again.

Well really it's only been 6 years since the show went off the air, but it's been 10 years since the last x-files film, so people keep calling it the 10 year sequel. Plus, the last film is really where the show should have ended instead of being alowed to rot well into 2002. X-Files belongs in the 90s. I think the movie would have gotten overshadowed no matter when it came out though. It's like the later Star Trek films, they pretty much suck, and the only people interested in them are curious diehard fans wanting another story, and even they know they suck.

Reviews on it are pretty mixed. It's either you like it or you don't.

Sounds about right for the series, actually.

Employee of mine saw it today and he said it was "meh". I might see it, if my roommate gets it by other means.

Well I'll be damned I actually liked it! There'a a lot of inside jokes in there for the fans, and it did a much better job of paying homage to the series than the later Star Trek movies did. Brought back a lot of memories at least, (I'm just not sure all of them were good ones). It's pretty much like they made a new episode that had a bigger budget and still fit in with the last season, but was way better than the last season (although not nearly as good as the rest of the show of course. Remember, the last season sucked royal). Not stupendous by any means, but not horrible either. "Meh" is a good way to put it.

There was more action in there than I was expecting from the reviews, it's just that it's typical X-files action and not movie action if that makes sense. You get people getting tortured and killed, you feel creeped out at times, body parts are everywhere, people you like get put in mortal danger, and we get a chase scene, but there's no big budget explosions or anything. So the action's at about the same level it would be in a normal X-file episode. I can see why people who were never fans of the show might get bored. I'd still say it's worth seeing though if you're curious about it. Just don't expect much and you might be pleasantly surprised.

What's crazy is that I heard they might be making ANOTHER X-files movie even more years later if this one does well enough at the box office. What?! You know it's not going to do that well, and even this was a strech. Seriously, I think at some point the X-files writers just went insane. It's like they have no concept of reality anymore.

Also WTF at one of the main FBI characters being Xzibit

Edit: Whoa! I just found this. Apparently just getting a role wasn't enough for Xzibit. He had to contribute a song too!

ROFL!
