This is an article supbage. For the main page, visit the real Wiki, you lazy bastard.

Disconnection Fairies are annoying, small beings. They work their magic by hovering over your internet connection-providing modem (or router), and float above it for a few seconds until enough signal noise is caused that the connection is dropped. Afterwards, they will usually quickly retreat though any nearby open windows, vents, or doors, or in a real jam, though a wall. (Magic allows this; see also Through Card)

A particularly nasty case has been known to affect Xkeeper (unknown cause). The easist way to remove them is by providing your router with a looping, constant signal -- reasons why this works are unknown but appear to alert the modem that something is wrong and prompt a reconnection faster, usually before everything disconnects[citation needed].

What attracts Disconnection Fairies is still unknown, but more research is being done.

Disconnection Fairies also seem to have mild mind control powers when around dial-up users. [Orignal Research?]. They can make random household members pick up the phone for no reason at all, even if the person tells them they are on the internet. [citation needed]

They seem to delight in delaying high-speed connections to rural areas, making the population bitter.[1] It is believed that Disconnection Fairies were created by AOL and Sony, because they are always doing something stupid.[No citation needed, this is common knowledge.]

Modem to a line does not equate having a phone.

It didn't say that.

It said it made people go after them.

Read, genius.

Oh.

See, though, that's all lies -- we don't even have a phone line, here.

Disconnection Fairies also like interfering with wireless connections. Must also help them power their magic through technological waves or something.

At least it happens here. Router screws up wireless once a day sometimes, usually when I sleep. =\

Yeah, that must be it... by absorbing the wireless signal, they can use it to broadcast gunk at other (wired) routers to cause immense noise and eventually connection death.

Genius!

Oh no...

That means I'm making it worse for people on wired connections. =o

Nothing I can do though unless I move out of this house, though. Dad sees wireless as the way to be yet it is so unstable here at times it isn't funny. The desktop computer in the living room is wired, so that's why he doesn't see it as a problem.

Also explains the moths divebombing at me. Those must not be moths but Disconnection Faries, waiting for me to sleep to disconnect me! D:

I should really get someone to draw these things.

But yeah, that'd explain why mine was going out... I have a wireless router right next to my modem, so she could probably just sit on top of the modem and utterly ruin my connection.

When Disconection Fairys get a limit break, they can send disconnection packets. They can only get a limit break if someone kills one of their sister|breatherin.

Disconnection Fairies sometimes go after major internet providers, shutting down the Internet for hours at a time. Their motivation to do this is as of yet unknown.

Stop shooting yourself when it's the truth... Damn faries. When they get powerful enough, they attack the source of the internet AKA ISPs. I've had this happen many times before.
