10?

20?

Not quite...

Looks like the girl gamer ratio is also up to about equal...but I don't ever see too many past a few here (and are actually pretty good).

Yeah, until you realize they include games like "Cake Mania" into the count, and suddenly it becomes of no surprise whatsoever...

(That's also probably why it's got a high female ratio, too)

Eh...true.

Now I would assume hardcore gamer would be around the age of 20ish.

"With the growing number of female gamers, the survey found that women age 18 or older now represent a significantly greater portion of the game-playing population (33%) than boys age 17 or younger (18%)."

Did this take in to account that there is more space for you to be "18 or older" than there is "17 or younger"?

I'd say anyone who grew up knowing an NES and continued on with gaming. So yea... I guess 17-22 is about the right range.

From what I've seen at my store, the range is around 15 - 35. Most chicks who actually play "real" games are around 17-35.

Most NESers and Atari players should be around their mid to high 30's, so if they're still playing to this day....

Of course not, then we might have a useful statistic, and we can't have those.

Those sir, are games. Many hours can be devoted to those. You don't just sit down and "enjoy a few minutes of Guitar Hero."

Now something like the "Cake Mania" example Xk put out are most likely casual/kids games. Have you ever played Peggle? Just because you played Peggle before does not make you a gamer, just as playing MS Solitare or Minesweeper does not make you a gamer. (Though I must admit, those are some pretty bad-ass time killers.)

I wonder if someone's ever come up with a definitive list of games to play for everyone that everyone would enjoy of any age and skill. Big emphasis on skill and being able to learn something fast enough.

I would wonder if that's even possible.

I don't think it's possible. Something like that would be too subjective. Even hardcore gamers can't agree on the difficulty levels of alot of NES games.

Exactly. And I think this "survey"/study/whatever included those, skewing the stats to an incredible amount.
