The gray flashing screen and blinking light are sources of both epic memories and eternal frustration. No experience quite matches trying to make a US model "toaster" NES run correctly.

Yeah, I have at least one (really old) toaster that usually flashes purple or brown. I think it depends on the PPU revision.

That was... oh wow. I'm going to be hitting reset multiple times, as if I'm five again, watching those Disney Sing-A-Longs.

Though I kinda feel like crap now -- I was born after the NES's time, and didn't actually play it until 10 years later. Then the plumber who has been reduced to a pile of hex, and, ultimately, the gray screen
