I'll probably use SakuraVM soon and try it out there (in IE6) and try to develop a minimalist stylesheet for it.

It breaks in IE7 too (although not nearly as much) - for Firefox and Opera, it looks exactly as intended.

I'm having issues with IE7 on a project too- valid CSS/XHTML 1.0, but IE shows -nothing- at all Works fine in FF3/Opera though.

There was some bug in IE involving XHTML. Not sure what it was.

This is valid HTML 4.01, mostly because I'm trying to get used to that a bit more Aside from that nothing much. Of course, users posting news could easily destroy that validity

This perfectly sums up my stance on HTML-vs-XHTML.

I think the biggest drawback to XHTML is by far the "Every error is fatal" system.

Especially if you allow any amount of user-content onto the page. One error and poof, error in markup, go away.

(It seems like browsers are not evil in this, but it is part of XML regardless and it is not good)

The answer is: No. They use seperate databases, although there will be a little data shared between them. (Users will not be one of them.)

The design looks good- maybe there should be something on the sides, but I guess that could pose a problem for lower resolutions (plus there's not really much that could go there)
