I think it's going to look like the old-school version with a few enhancements.

But hey; at least Square Enix hasn't whored out this franchise yet.

I've been having an urge to play FF6 again, but I am still holding out for FF6 on the DS. I'd rather not play the original and then suddenly find out that a DS remake's on the horizon.

On regards to CT on the DS.. I love CT. I even love its bastard child, Chrono Cross. I've read lots of material regarding the background of both games. And yet, I don't feel so excited for this game.

I did, initially. Lit up like a tree and such. But the lights became dim when all I saw was footage that looked exactly like something from the SNES. I suppose that ain't really bad, but atleast one screen showing a DS feature would've been nice. I'm still happy about the game, but my hype-o-meter went from "Awesome!" to "That's cool."

If I had the DS, I'd probably be saying the same thing about 6 except they've already done it on the GBA already and I wasn't really impressed with it outside of being the same game. :\

A lot of these 'remakes' are more 'ports' than anything anymore. :\

The GBA and DS are really just doomed to ports... the GBA especially (did it ever recieve a new Mario game?)

Square on the DS just seems silly; release some ported game on the GBA, then release it on the DS right after? Uh.

Maybe if it isn't a cheap port I'd consider it over just emulating it on my PSP, but bleh.

If we're counting the spinoffs, there's also the Mario Golf and Tennis games on GBA (though I still hold to the opinion that the GBC and N64 ones were better than the GBA and GC ones), but he was probably referring to the normal Mario series.

Besides, half of Mario Kart Super Circuit was dumbed-down SMK tracks. It's just not SMK's Rainbow Road without those weird neon thwomps. =/

Well, I meant a real, non-spinoff game. The most I remember were SMW, SMW2, SMB2, and SMB3, along with the fucking "Classic NES series".

Hell, even Zelda only got one new game (Minish Cap) while the GBC got 3 (LA, OoS, OoA)

I'm almost tempted to disagree, but yeah, that still isn't quite what I meant. I mean more in the classical style of Mario games (sidescrolling platformer).

Granted Superstar Saga is one of the best RPGs I've played, but it isn't quite what I meant here

I had fury!!... but now I just have headache. (probably the best part of Partners in Time)

Well, really, those are in short supply in general now. You can hardly blame the GBA for not having one when they don't exist anywhere else either. NSMB seems to be the only effort made on that for a long time, and even that wasn't quite there. Sidescrolling Platformer Mario hasn't been doing much work lately, he's been letting Spinoff Mario and 3D-Platformer Mario run the show.

I guess, but just try comparing it to most other games on the GBA; plenty of platformers all around.

Nintendo just saw fit to release four ports rather than actually spend any time making something new in that category.

(Personally Wario Land games fit that gap quite nicely)

Well at least the games had new content in some instances, even if they were remakes.

I liked NSMB! At least it was a nice little throwback and it controlled just fine.

(Besides, Mario hasn't really made that many side-scrolling appearances; he made two on the original GB and then Wario took over.)

It seems to be nothing but a pretty much standard port without much in terms of new.

Eh.

As long as it doesn't have load times like FF3 DS did.

Maybe not real load times. But it has an annoying delay when entering/leaving areas, opening/closing the menu, etc.
