There is a third Legends game. It's coming out on Cell Phones in case you didn't know.

That's what I meant, yes. Probably should've been more clear on it.

I think your standards are just slightly too high. After all, the Phoenix Wright games have some of the best localizations I've seen--I don't think a couple of errors (I'm thinking the count is about 3 per game) really detracts from it that much.

(We won't talk about the voice acting in Mega Man 8. Bass is not a fish, after all.)

I've seen about that much in the first case of PW3. It grinds my gears, because it shows nobody bothered to actually look it over.

But eh.

Pretty sure that later in the game the spelling errors are rare.

You can take a gamer away from the 90's, but you can't take the 90's away from a gamer. I'm always going to remember things like "FAILD" and such.

It'll be nice to have a new NES game. (the developer said in Nintendo Power that he felt like he was coding a new NES game. I might try this out.)

Some snippets from a GamesRadar interview with Inafune…

GamesRadar: If there is a XBLA or PSN version in the making, will there be any differences from Wii to 360 to PS3, like online capabilities or galleries?

Inafune: We haven’t announced a XBLA or PSN title yet. Do the fans want them? As a rule, I try not to create differences between platforms. Differences based on platform capabilities may optimize possibilities and gameplay specific to a particular platform, yet that is not necessarily welcomed by the users. Everyone desires what s/he has to be better than the others’ and it will be unfair to create differences in my opinion. To avoid such a situation, I always try to create equality across the platforms and make sure everyone will be happy with our creations.

GamesRadar: By the sixth installment, Mega Man had gained several moves (sliding, charge shots, Rush help). Will any of these make it into part 9 or are you aiming for a more Mega Man 2-style game?

Inafune: Mega Man 9 will be much closer to Mega Man 2. As mentioned earlier, in the process of going back to our roots, we came to conclude that those fancy moves were unnecessary. There are many gamers who claim that Mega Man 2 is their absolute favorite. I took it as an indication that Mega Man is not all about the moves. The beauty of Mega Man actually lies in its simplicity and a fine mixture of simple gameplay, puzzle-like thrill of maneuvering tricks at the last minute, and battles. Instead of new moves, we’ve tried to find an excellent balance in the game design and to achieve “simplicity and fun” in the very detailed-oriented age.

I smell possible challenge/boss rush modes!

Maybe my expectations are a bit too high for this game, but if it's anywhere near MM2 or MM3... may God have mercy on our souls.

(...either way, I'm buying it on launch. I hope it's coming out this year...)

Don't have a Wii, but that game sounds really nice. Gotta love the classic Mega Man sprite with his typical involuted arm while he is shooting.
Gotta love the music, especially from Mega Man 3 (Wily Stage 2, nearly all of the regular stages' themes).
Gotta love the gameplay with its challenging bosses in the classic series. While the other series aren't that wrong (except Mega Man 8 and the very last Xs, which seem just like extended graphic demos, sequences with some battles *cough*), and in the classic series the blue bumber can neither dash forward, stop in mid-air nor does have an "evil gaze" in his eyes; or a dark theme in general, I still prefer the original series. Classic gameplay from the 80s and 90s!

The only thing they could mess up, I think, is the sound. They confirmed using 8-bit tunes, but even if not ... I will not set the standards too high, although my expectations are, unwillingly.

First footage:

It looks and sounds pretty damn awesome. It's certainly 8-bit And it isn't smooth animations either! (Something like 5 frames for the spinning around that platform thingy)

Holy crap. One has to wonder if they actually composed the music on an NES, or just used NES-like samples...

Either way, it sounds and looks just like the real thing so far.

That looks and sounds like classic Mega Man alright.

Though, that capsule looking thing that Mega Man steps on seems weird to me. I'm now half expecting a new series coming out soon, called Paper Mega Man because of it. If that weird effect's been there before, forgive me. But now that Paper Mario's been out, that's what I'm thinking... ;

Mega Man's supposed to be rotating around that. And on a NES, that would be a good effort at that effect.

September in Japan, right? I'd hope October here...

Rather short for footage, but still, awesome. This'll be fun, Capcom hit the nail on the head with this one. It'll be like there was a 7th NES Mega Man game, and it'll be awesome. I do hope that at least Slide is added before the final product though.

Good way of saying yes.

I listened closely (even filtered out some notes from the music) and it seems the sound effects cut off the second square, like they should on the NES, so that's good

But there's still a few other things I noticed that I'm not sure about:

The moving platforms aren't aligned to 8x8 tiles with the rest (so they must be sprites), but they're more than 8 tiles wide (goes over the 8 per scanline limit) ...

Left: in the middle where Megaman is, that's more than 8 sprites per scanline (10, counting Megaman's overlapping sprites)
Right: if the flames on the left are sprites, that's way more than 8 ...

Of course, if they just allow more than 8 sprites per scanline without the flickering (possible on an emulator), as long as there's never more than 64 total (or 128 if they use 8x16), then everything looks fine
