On those rare occasions that I do change my username, I tend to leave the "54123" attached to it (the only exception in recent memory was "Flonne"). It just feels weird not having it there.

I do wish there was an easier way to identify renamed users, one that doesn't involve browsing post histories or picking out subtle quirks in typing patterns. Something like a short list (last two or three) of the user's most recent names in their profile might work. I've been genuinely confused by a few name changes lately...

It wouldn't even be that hard to make.

Seriously, I did a namechange.php at Xeogaming where all previous names are listed (from when this was implented). I've been really crap at PHP lately (and when I did that, even), so it should be a piece of cake (obligatory lie*Etna getting shot) for Xk)

Arguably, even just having a "Original username" field would be good. Why keep a record?

Of course it could be edited by admins anyway (so that minor corrections like spelling/capitalization/de-numeralizing could be treated as an original name) ...

It basically boils down to "I'm too lazy to bother".

I think that there should be at least something to keep track. I like to think that I'm pretty good at it, but lots of name changes are confusing. I do agree that it's much easier to just not change names though.

If I were to change my name, I'd probably change it from teconmoon to Teconmoon. For some reason, that lower-case just seems to bother me.

If I were allowed to change my name, it'd go from the current Madman200 to what everyone's been seeing in IRC, MM200. Just for compression values and it seems to have a better look to me...

Also if you want your name changed you can just PM an admin nicely. I mean it isn't like we are going to change your name and ban you.

A "original username" field would be nice, but it's usually fairly easy to figure out who's who...

Well, I'm currently in DC, posting from my father's laptop. :3



After waking up at 7:00 am, we spent around 12 hours in/around airports/airplanes and only 3 hours in the air.


Of course, now it's midnight and I have (or had) a splitting headache (as I took some Tylenol an hour ago). Our room having a delightful view of the Metro station didn't help.


Well, I don't know how much I'll actually be online during the trip since my father probably needs this laptop for work stuff (this is a business trip after all) and I'm sure I'll be plenty busy sightseeing.

No photos yet. If I do take any, though, you'll have to wait for Friday to see any.


Edit: Oh yeah, and I just remembered. While waiting for the first flight, we saw a guy, somewhere in his mid-20s, with a baseball cap, shaved head, and arm tatoos, sleeping in a chair holding a giant Knuckles doll. He even took it on the plane with him. I think it was his only carry-on. Me and my brother kept chuckling everytime we saw it.
