Going to be fixed in 3.0.0.1 apparently.

Opera's about:config is very nice.

There is a reason I use it to read Kid Radd after all.

This is a mixture of sad, retarded, and hilarious, all at the same time.

The Firefox Fanboy ego would put the Goodyear blimp to shame.

It certainly was difficult with all the server downtime they had.

No, I meant that's all they did. They cilcked a fucking button.

I've been halfassedly reverse engineering a game's save format, which actually requires more than motor skills and two firing neurons!

I guess you have successfully completely missed the entire point of what I've been saying.

Fanboys. Not developers.

Although anybody who actually promotes this crap ("DOWNLOAD DAY NERP NERP NERP 2008") should be shot and all the idiots enthusiastic enough to do it should go do something worthwhile, like, oh, I don't know, donate to something worthwhile.

I actually can't say this is a legitimate most downloads. I booted Firefox 2 on the day of the update and it prompted me to update. That my friend, is shit. I clicked later or whatever, and it still updated after the restart. That means that they got a shitload of downloads from people who may not have even wanted to participate in the download thing. If that's the case, imagine the world record if IE force updated.

I had Firefox 1.5 here and Firefox 2 at work, and had to update both manually from the install ... neither of them even told me version 3 came out

The update went fine here, I still haven't gotten used to the so-called "awesome bar" but it's not getting in the way too much (I can still type a few letters to access URL's like I used to, just get results in a different order) ... the only minor problem I've had was menus looking a bit odd (like this), but it might just not like the font

Firefox is like Windows in that, unless you explicitly turn it off, it downloads updates and installs them whenever it feels like it.

Honestly, I'm suprised they don't count something like Windows XP SP2 for this, but yeah, force-updating probably helped a lot.

I find it funny they had "more than 8M downloads" but their counter shows like 19-something million. Uh huh.

I'm not sure that the updates helped the count at all.

The word "update" is still rather ambiguous, though. =\

93? Cool, I got my PMMX 233mhz in 98 and used it until late 2003. :O

Also, to anyone asking people whether it's worth it to download, please, download it yourselves. You won't know if you like the changes unless you try them.

And for those of you who dislike FF, or didn't want to help it get the record, I am sad at you! Why you ask? Because if FF gets enough downloads, it'll make microsoft fags make IE not suck so much, which will then lead to W3C compatibility being added and no more pain to design HTML/CSS pages. Yes, I know, standards suck yadda yadda, but I get money from it and it sucks to develop things twice. :/

I never fucked with any update settings, and nothing yelled at me to update. It did annoy me constantly to get FF2 when I still had 1.5, but it never downloaded anything without permission. I did help the download day, but I still use FF2. I'm not nuts for Firefox, but it'd be cool to see it as a World Record. Also, I think the "Total Downloads" counter means just that, Total Downloads. As in, not just on the specified day, but they got over 8M on that day.
