Or 'end of erotic young maidens'? Well...

Take a look at the petition brewing in Japan...

Quote:

A Petition for the Enactment of Regulation on the Manufacture and Sale of Bishojo Adult Anime Magazines, and Bishojo Adult Anime Simulation Games

Our towns overflow with adult anime magazines and games which often depict elementary school girls, and the minds of the youths who are seduced by these games are unwittingly destroyed; they lose their very humanity, there are already incidents of young maidens being plucked from the streets and murdered. Since it is plain that our society has now become one where young girls are placed in great peril, the issue of free expression is a thing of the past. To curb these profit seeking companies with no conception of social morals, to restrict the creation of products which place young girls in peril, there is a pressing need for penal regulations and the accompanying laws.

We wish to see enacted laws restricting the manufacture and sale of bishojo adult anime magazines, and bishojo adult anime simulation games.

Just another political shot in an otherwise non-political area.

EDIT: Meant to place this in Gaming. I'm really having a hard time with this 'missing the mark' deal as of late.

Too many of them are visual novels, to be honest.

That but...I think I'd be more concerned about their 'guro' than this...this would be but a small smidgen off of how really 'bad off' Japan is in this department...

For them to try to make a petition on this part of a much LARGER thing REALLY makes me want to hear what the response will be to this.

Now it looks like the UK has something similar about to be passed.

Check here.

What's going on here? :\

[21:26] <Hiryuu> FREE SPEECH SAY GOODBYE
[21:26] <Hiryuu> THE STICK FIGURE BAN IS UPON US
[21:26] <Kattwah> <Free Speech> Bye

Basically, we're taking care of the problems ahead of time. Just like arresting someone for a crime they MAY commit. :\

Well I guess we can only hope this type of thing doesn't come to the US/Canada (for those of us living in North America) ... although I don't hold much hope for the US. Once they start banning things like this, they'll keep going farther(further?) and f[a|u]rther until free will and thought are banned completely...

To be honest the way they are looking at the law in the UK might be taking it a bit far, however, the situation in Japan really is as bad as it is made out to be. There are a lot of young women simply disappearing, being raped or murdered, and those who are not are molested or harassed even in public and broad daylight. And nothing has ever been really done about it, it has just been a part of the "culture", people say, and look at how everyone looks down upon us for it!

I am honestly for anything to help clean up my country a little bit and turn it back in to a respectable society...oh no, people aren't allowed to draw or look at pictures of things they wouldn't be allowed to see anyway! If it is illegal to see a little girl naked in photographs, why should it be okay to promote the same kind of child exploitation by allowing sexual images to be drawn of one? The main reason child pornography is illegal is because of child exploitation and these kinds of things sort of defeat the purpose. I can understand people's fears of it being taken too far (Evangeleon hentai being cached from 4Chan being illegal, but I'd say thats the least of your worries being cached there ) but in reality it isn't infringing any more free speech than in real pornography...

I highly doubt the law will be actually enforced upon stickfigures, for instance. They really just want to clean up deliberate images of child exploitation. I really doubt we'll see them going around 2ch arresting people drawing ascii penises because the body looks to be of questionable age.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just talking from the view of someone who's been through a good deal of the trash that goes on over there, but...I'd really be for cleaning things up.
