Just wanting to know what you guys do with your money these days in terms of...I dunno...

SAVING IT (and yes, I blow my money dumbly too...sometimes)

Only reason I mention is because, money-wise, I'm probably going to rework for an active savings right after I personally get myself out of paying back a 1600 dollar pay advance...probably 50 a week with 300 starting. I figure I'll see results in a year or two which will help if I'm ever gutter-slammed again...and mostly because I'm worried about the economy state-side. It may just be necessary soon enough.

Also have a checking acct...and not much else. I've let multi-voting go into this because I figure there are some people that have multiple accts. and are much smarter than I am...so I'll let that go then.

Every time I get paid it is STRAIGHT to the Checking Account.

Later, I often spend most of it on Videogames(Course, with the TV busted, I won't be for a while, at least on Wii games...)

Pay goes to checking account.

Then I proceed to evaluate how much I can spend. From this point I transfer whatever I won't spend to my savings account.

This is working well thus far.

I'm actually very good at saving money and usually only buy things that I know I'll get a lot of use out of. My wallet is getting kind of empty although tomorrow's my birthday so that will probably change

Me (and everyone I know) are basically very money-tight right now. I don't actually have any money for myself right now

My savings account doesn't get money put in often. (I'm kinda not working right now )

I have plenty of money if I need it, it's just... I don't really need it

Active checking account, also got direct deposits from work income ... then I have a pretty large part put away somewhere with about 4% interest per year (much better than the bank's 0.1% ), and low expenses because I live with my parents and rarely get to go out and buy stuff for myself, so it's pretty much money piling up, saved up for when I'll need it more

Most of my money goes into my account. I've always had a plan over summer. Take $20 out of my weekly pay as spending and send the rest the bank. It's worked so far... I see no reason not to do it this summer either.

I really wish I had any time to go deposit this paycheck I've had for almost a week now! I mean, how fun is it to always be scheduled to work the bank's hours? Oh, don't forget the holidays! Hurrrrr.

I'm seriously concerned about going under by this point.

I just opened up a savings account a few weeks ago and also have plenty of money in my checking account. I figure that every few months I'll transfer some money over to savings, and if I ever end up in a really big bind I'm allowed one free withdrawal/transfer from savings each month (anything else has a fee).

I'm not posting my available balance. Most of you here would drool.

I have a savings and checking. But I run my checking account to the bone, leaving all my money in savings to earn whatever pathetic interest I can get. Half of my money is also in a savings certificate which is still getting a very paltry amount But hey, 1.something is better than 0.25%

No job, so my checking account is sitting at $205 and gradually falling as I get food and drinks for my cross-town job hunts (on foot, so I really do need the drinks).

Oh, and $75/mo for bills. It would be $275, but my grandmother's waiving the rent until I get a job.

I only showed mine because it's pretty much in the red.

Sigh.

Something always comes up that causes my bank account to hover near the "under 100$" range. This time should be a bit different (I hope), because I still have $350 (minus this month's rent) to go off of...

I just really need to cut back on spending ... which would be easier if sustinence at the plaza wasn't overpriced to all hell and wasn't the only option (I have no lunch box and it'd be cumbersome to lug around all day ... not that the food we have is really meant for on-the-go regardless)

Well, to be more specific with mine ...

Before university when I had no job or anything:

11-30-01: + 0.03 -> 443.66 (monthly interest, like it even matters)
12-31-01: + 0.02 -> 443.68 (monthly interest)
01-31-02: + 0.02 -> 443.70 (monthly interest)
02-28-02: + 0.03 -> 443.73 (I think you can guess it by now)
03-29-02: + 0.03 -> 443.76
04-30-02: + 0.03 -> 443.79
(most of it was gotten on birthdays and such, rarely ever touched)

How it's generally been for the last 2 years, with work income and almost nothing to spend on:

02-14-08: + 878.99 -> 18642.28 (work deposit every 2 weeks, after taxes)
02-25-08: - 203.14 -> 18439.14 (bought a PlayStation 2, controller, etc.)
02-25-08: - 116.23 -> 18322.91 (... and games)
02-28-08: + 878.99 -> 19201.90 (work)
02-29-08: - 1.20 -> 19200.70 (monthly bank cost, or negative interest, whee)
03-03-08: - 500.00 -> 18700.70 (money I keep around to pay my parents, transport and stuff)
03-13-08: + 869.15 -> 19569.85 (work)
03-27-08: +1424.56 -> 20994.41 (work + raise/bonus after a year)
03-31-08: - 500.00 -> 20494.41 (previous $500 ran out)
03-31-08: - 1.20 -> 20493.21 (bank)
04-10-08: + 938.30 -> 21431.51 (work)
04-24-08: + 943.87 -> 22375.38 (work)
04-25-08: + 90.50 -> 22465.88 (check deposit)
04-25-08: - 500.00 -> 21965.88 ($500 refill again)
Then add the $30000 I've transfered away since September 2006 (+ interest), and that's about how much I've saved up so far (for when it'll have a better use ...)

And yes, April 25 is the last time I went, although I'm due to take another $500 soon

If I had any bank accounts, it would at least have $275 in there because of the birthday money I got when I was younger.

The one my family currently uses has around $11K. That with the checking ($8K), would total up to around $19K. I wish I could use some of that money .

Hmm.

I have a general use bank account which has something between $200 and $3000 in it at any one time (Depends on how much I've been working really). I've also got a term deposit which I keep adding my tax returns to. I think I've got a 3-4 thousand in it now.

So not heaps, but it's there. I don't really earn enough at the moment, as money makes money and all that.
