Ships and news!

Laser Rain 2.0

A spiffy new upgrade to Laser Rain. Smaller than the previous version, plus the lasers are a tad harder to dodge. The new design makes me think "iLaser"...

Aurora Bit

My brother was goofing around in the editor using bit cores, homing lasers, and scripting (lagtastic) and I made this to show him slow rays. The patterns were so pretty I couldn't resist saving. Doesn't put up much of a fight (standard bit core stamina) but can catch you off-guard in a loop.

Also, if you check the Fraxy site, it looks like they have a new part or two in development: an "Effector" (can't understand what it says about it) and a grenade weapon, which apparently creates an explosion similar to Remote Blast. Can't really understand much about either, though.

Edit: Also, Gemstonehelix of the Compendium took on all 63 of my ships (above two were made after) in a three part video!

Here's part 1!

I forgot to tell him how to pronounce my name. XD

You mean something like this?

I changed the laser, but there's not much I can do beyond coloring the blaster green.

Edit: I basically finished, since I can't see anything else to change and I have no idea what that greenish bullet is next to the winder bullet / Over Soll bullet image.

Let me know if I missed anything imporant.

For Arwings
For Wolfens

Edit: New ship!

Lololo & Lalala

And this completes the Dream Land boss quartet! Of course, there's still Dedede to make.

Edit: MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! This took all day, but it's finally done! Introducing... THE MEGABIT

Megabit

This is no ordinary Bit Core! It powers up to this monsterous form shortly after appearing. It's ten times its normal size! May cause lag in higher ranks, especially Rank 75 and above...

Edit: New boss called "Disaster Core"! Check it out in the compendium~

Time for a kickass Fraxy update. A grenade weapon part has been added, as well as...the effector! Basically it creates all kinds of special effects, which can of course be controlled by events and such. I don't believe that they do any damage but they're cool to look at.
Sadly, this breaks Peardian's Arwing/Wolfen weapons mod. Now all you can keep is the ship and the interface if you want the special effects/grenade. Hopefully Peardian will update the images.

One of the recent updates added "View Change", so you can keep your ship centered, rather than having the viewpoint move when you turn. Defaults to the Enter key.

All right, I updated the zips for the custom graphics. It... actually has less than before. Basically, it gives you the interface and ship, as well as the custom lasers to be pasted in the top left corner of common_01 and common_01a. I'm just going to leave the particle effects and whatnot normal this time.

Also, I've messed around with the effectors and have already updated some of my ships to use them. If you have any of these ships, please redownload them at the wiki:

~Kracko
~Dark Matter
~Megabit
~Disaster Core

Speaking of Disaster Core, I might as well post its picture here and whatnot.

Disaster Core

The idea and the name sorta came to me at the same time. Originally, I had a series of blades essentially "rotating" around the core perpindicular to the screen (using lots of move joints), but it brought the part total to 500+ and lagged horribly, so I cut them.

Guys let's implement a naming scheme so we know who made which bosses and when.
Suggestion: "creator ~ boss ~ date(mm-dd-yy).fed"
Example: "Peardian ~ Disaster Core ~ 05-21-08.fed"
The internal boss name would just be "Disaster Core" but this way the files will be organized. I know it's a little long but oh well .
Thoughts?

Though I haven't actually made anything in who knows how long, I agree with having a naming scheme. I've actually been organizing the ones I download by authorname for a while anyway.

Actually, putting .fed files in folders inside the enemy folder can work too. I have all my ships in a folder named MM200 so I know which ones are mine.

Although, your method works too, including date.

Yeah, I've been doing that recently too. However, all the ones I downloaded long ago I don't remember who made them so it's kind of hard to put them in folders unless I go searching through the thread/wiki.

Also, for the naming scheme, we should probably add the creator's name to the internal Fraxy bossname as well. That way the boss-select list will be organized too. (Ex: "Peardian - Disaster Core") I forgot that the internal name is what organizes that list, not the filename.

Repost from Board2...

"I haven't felt like posting my creations until now, and all I give you now is one: the Peacock.

A pic of each form:

...Yes, it's different, the parts move in the game.

Also, it does have other weapons than the beak.

The only way to destroy it is to destroy the 8 generators on the 20 "feathers". Please note that it's pretty old, so it doesn't have any new pieces and is very easy to take out, even if it may take a while. "

Apparently there's a new "test" build of Fraxy out (fraxy_20080526test.zip) and as of yet I have no idea what it does (maybe he's trying to fix the editor's disappearing bullets glitch? because the only two files in the zip are edit_20080526test.exe and fraxy_20080525test.exe). I don't suppose anyone can read Japanese (and therefore translate the Fraxy website for us ^^;;?

You could try Google translating. And according to it, the differences are...

are separated by a bug-filled event was moved to issue a temporary fix. Where is there a possibility of error, so the test version. Files are only partially so, please put fraxy_20080522. The following are changes noted in separate parts of the core attributes are not destroyed. Preview editor in the event of separation. Editor, which was destroyed during separate parts are still translucent. Editor separation, which was destroyed parts of the mouse and numeric change Hazime Hiroshi unable to move. Reset to the editor by pressing the separation of the parts are restored. Preview editor when you save to reset the state. For joint separation is the same. Editor for the separation of joint separation.

...well that was a whole lot of uselessness.

Don't use the test version then, just use the last regular release (20080522).

Edit/repost/whatever: New Fraxy video out, this time with music. Cirvy apparently thought his bosses were hard to beat...

Yay, first view! Not bad, but I'm afraid it was a bit dull, since it was mostly just you firing a constant stream of bullets while moving around it. Some nice maneuvering there, though. Also, the music goes into a victory thing and ends before the fighting finishes in the end.

I have a handful of bosses I want to make, but can't seem to find the inspiration to create them... hopefully I will soon.

Heres my boss!

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=42ET1BU0

The explosion you see behind the core is the detach joint relesing tons of missle cores!
Its "small", but powerfull.

...Whoa. Looks awesome, I'll have to give it a go.
Oh, by the way, megaupload isn't the best place to put the files, I'd use board2's uploader (heh, we need one of those ). No stupid "wait 60 seconds!" crap and stuff.

Also, new version of Fraxy out (20080606), go get it! It changes something about replays and the editor it seems.
Only three image files have been updated (_01a, _02, _02a) so that means you won't have your custom weapon sprites (if you use them) but any player ship sprites should be untouched.
Peardian we need new Starfox image edits
Edit: Wait, hmm, you don't have to replace _01...so you get to keep the custom weapon sprites... the game seems unaffected even though I replaced the greyscale image with the new one... hummmm

What gets annoying sometimes with the editor is that when theres too much laser sprites in the screen, later on, the editor wont even show them anymore untill we close it, reopen it...

Btw, thanks for the info!

EDIT: Whoop! seems that now the editor show the parts detaching from the detach joints...

No what happens is, if you press the "reset" button too many times, bullets stop appearing.

If you have too many weapons, then some bullets won't appear, but that's a separate problem and probably has to do with some sort of software/hardware limitation, and also occurs in the game itself and not just in the editor.
