What's the general price of RAM nowadays? Also, how exactly do you install ram?
I'm okay with software but have no experience with hardware. Do the sticks come with instructions?

VRAM is all up to you, as for your comments.

As for RAM, it wholly depends on what you're getting for whatever computer. That's a lot. If you told me 'oh yea I need 512MB of PC3200 (333MHz) RAM' I could tell you 'eh, about 30 bucks depending on the brand'. If you wanted 2 gigs of PC18000 clocking at 2.0GHz from Crucial Ballistix...I'd tell you buy a new comp (630 dollars, last I checked).

What are we talking here for RAM? Age of the comp? As for where the RAM is, they should be your strips sticking out of the motherboard (or 1 strip) and they're usually as easy as pushing the tabs back on either side of the stick, taking the old RAM out, fitting the new one PROPERLY on the RAM slot PROVIDED you have the correct RAM and snapping it into place with minimal effort.

There, I just saved you 40 bucks or so of labor.

Using CPU-Z might shed some light on what kind of RAM your system supports if you do not have a manual that tells you.

Most RAM chips are pretty affordable. buy them at Office Depot, Staples, Circuit City, Best Buy or even Fry's Electronics. Before purchasing any RAM modules, use the CPU-Z tool as neotransotaku suggested to determine the type and speed of the RAM chips your computer uses.

As for installing or removing RAM modules, consider buying a computer repair book as it may show you how to insert and remove those memory chips.
