Genetically different.

Which is probably what would make this a big deal to the people complaining about spoiling humans or whatever.

And for the furry issue, I don't see it as not happening. Odds are there will be a point where people can become a furry and go from there.
Of course there isn't anything wrong with that, but will cause protest and dumb stuff, like the deal with gay marriage and such.

But people who are already furries couldn't be furries anyway since you can't really change your genetics. They'd have to make their children furries, which wouldn't be fair to them to make them some kind of half animal thing. You'd have to settle for prosthetic stuff and surgeries to make you an anthro dog/cat/fish/whatever, which don't exist yet anyway.

Who knows? Perhaps one day they'll actually figure out how to modify DNA in a living person without causing their body to go in to shock.
