Because no one uses them

Because not very many people with the hobby of romhacking develop on Mac and Linux.

Yah thats the sad... wait a minute linux is free. So why don't people make editors for linux? As for mac it's just as easy to use as windows and it's virus free. There both better than windows.

People write these programs for windows because windows is still the OS of choice/use of the majority. Not only that, but with windows, it's somewhat easy to use WINE or an equivalent in order to run the windows programs on mac or linux.

Mac isn't virus free... Just no-one makes viruses for it.
There have been some made in labs to prove they can be made.
If more people switch to Macs, viruses will be made for Macs.

I'm both, a ROM Hacker and a Mac user.
Before this whole thread turns into a massive fight between operating systems, let's make a few things clear;
-When it comes to ROM Hacking, Windows is superior. You can't get around that fact, sorry.
-You can edit Harvest Moon on a Mac, just not as easily as with Windows. Grab a Hex Editor and go nuts.
-You can virtualize a Windows Operating System through VMWare Fusion or Dual-Boot with Apple's own Boot Camp.
Just make sure you're running an intel mac. If not, wait for ReactOS.

But seriously, it's just ROM Hacking. I wouldn't go to the point of switching my Operating System over it. Be sure to hit me if you run into any problems, I'd be more than glad to help. Just try to drop that Apple-Attitude, aight?

Actually, it was on its way to a quiet death until you bumped it.

I'll just go ahead and close this before that happens. Besides, it deviated from ROM hacking way back at the third post.
