This game has been out for a few weeks now. I ended up playing it about a week after it came out, because it seemed like a lot of fun when my roommate was playing it.

The battle system, synthesis system, and leveling are all a lot of fun, and the story is awesome (imagine Harry Potter, except with likable characters). It's one of my favorite games of the year, which is damn impressive given that I don't even like RPGs.

Has anyone else played it?

(And if you haven't: go fix that ).

'Fraid not...Etna's about to post or will beat me to it but has...

Best I've got on that series is Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana...goes downhill for me after that.

It is very fun.

Very, very fun.

I've finished the game, got all chars to their 4th character quest (their next is the final one, you can only do one of these).

The bonus dungeon can (and is) very frustrating. But yes, it's a very fun game, and when you get the hang of support actions and good timing, the battle system gets very interesting.

The OST is (especially stuff like the final boss theme). Too bad that the one that comes with the game is only partial.

All in all, I've put tons of hours into it, but I'm pretty much done (near 100% completion)

EDIT: and obviously Hiryuu was right about me posting.

I haven't actually finished my playthough, but my save has a copy of my roommate's clear data with it, so I've visited the bonus dungeon early. And yeah, it's crazy hard. I'm not sure I even want to complete it, since the whole core thing takes a lot of fun out of synthesis.

So, which characters do you tend to leave out? I've abandoned Flay and Muppy, personally. Vayne, Roxis, Pamela and Anna are too hax not to use, in my opinion, so it really was them vs Nikki and Jess.

I tend to leave out Flay and Nikki.

Mind you, Muppy is probably the most broken char in the game (see: Flying Pot), and is pretty useful in the bonus dungeon (where normal monsters are stronger than the bosses).

Of course, Flay is useful when you need to lower Def.

Pamela is lol (Her D-Support is incredibly useful, No Bullying is powerful as hell, when you get immunity to physical damage, it's plain ridiculous).

Anna is great (her ending is, too), both her D and A Support give her her turn immediately (great when bosses spam stuff)

Roxis I couldn't live without, nuff said.

Jess is bleh (Healing Echo Omega is useful tho)

Vayne is strong (hello Chaos Devotion)

I really need to pimp out Vayne's SP so I can do Jade Shift -> spam Over Realm -> Chaos Devotion.

I'm considering leaving Jess behind, since the only thing she really has going for her is how cheap it is to cast Healing Echo Omega.

What exactly do Muppy's moves do? I never actually looked into it much.

Change! changes all monsters into punis.

It's great when you run into strong monsters.

Flying Pot has a good chance to have an enemy skip two turns.

These two moves are .

Never used the others.

Oh snap.

Does change turn them into different types of punis depending on how strong the monster is? And or does it work with boss monsters?

Flying Pot sounds hardcore. I might have to go try this.

Change! does turn them into different punis depending on the monster, and obviously doesn't work on bosses.

But it's your best bonus dungeon 'weapon'.
