Seems like a very isolated situation, though... I notice that in other articles it mentions the guy got a free ticket from the captain assuming there were seats, so I guess that's why he felt he could boot him out, but still, sit on the toilet for three hours?

I think the flight attendant only complained about the jump seat after the plane took off... I'm going to have to try to find that article again.

That pilot is just stupid. You shouldn't be forced to give up your seat if you have a ticket, especially to a flight attendant (who normally doesn't have a seat in the first place).

Even if he got another ticket, the fact that the first ticket led to that situation was bad enough in itself.
