At least I think that's what it is. What happens is the monitor refresh rate jumps from H: ~60KHz and V: 75Hz to H: 90+KHz and V: 80+Hz. Now I don't know if it's the graphics card getting messed up and sending the wrong info to the monitor or if it's the monitor misinterpreting the signals, but something's wrong and it's really annoying when my computer randomly crashes and has to be rebooted, especially if I'm in the middle of something. I'm pretty sure it's the card though because the whole computer crashes, not just the video.

Card: HIS X1650 Radeon 512MB

I'm pretty sure you've told me before, but what's your power supply rated? That card needs at least 450W, according to the page you linked, and if you've got a pre-built computer (i.e. HP/Compaq, Dell, Gateway) you're probably sucking all the life out of the super-crappy stock PSU.

500W power supply (I didn't install the graphics card until I upgraded from my old <250W).

Ah...huh. Well, crap. Have you updated all your chipset drivers?

Random crashes like that are incredibly hard to diagnose, unfortunately. If you've updated everything and it keeps doing that, you might have to RMA the card or try something else...

Drivers are fully up-to-date.

Well if the problem persists and no one knows what's going on, I'll have them replace it with a new card; it might be a defective one. If I still have the same problems I'll get a new one but I hope it doesn't come to that .

Oh, when it crashes, do you get any error messages, or is it a complete lock up/reboot?

The only error message comes from the monitor, saying "Frequency Out of Range". I have to reboot the computer though because the whole thing's crashed. Then once it's rebooted it gives me the generic "Windows has recovered from a serious error. Would you like to send an error report?" thing.
Edit: Apparently it's decided to change things up, now it gave me a BSOD (though maybe it was doing that before and I couldn't see it because the monitor stopped working).

Write down what the BSOD says next time it happens (disable automatic restarts [control panel -> system -> advanced -> startup and recovery settings -> uncheck automatically restart]) and post it here.

That, or if it gives you hell, check that log and post the error report here in the System Logs report.

I wouldn't know what else is doing it other than a fugged card.

Well I won't be getting any more BSODs now because I took it out and am using the old one for now. I'll probably just have them give me a replacement...

Edit: Well I finally got a reply to the support email, and after fixing the driver files that were broken it seems to be working fine, no more crashes.
