I asked this over at the SMW Central, but I doubt i'll be getting a response soon..

Anyways, so I was planning on buying a PSP for my birthday in a few days. To tell you guys the truth, I'm not really a big fan of most neo-era games. I'm really into old school games; Super Mario World being one example. So I was planning on not buying any games for the PSP and emulating the SNES(and NES, possibly) on it so I could my SNES(and NES) roms/games. The problem here, though, is that I heard it's impossible now. I was planning on buying the Silver PSP packet, which comes with the Silver PSP, the shitty Daxter game, a 1GB Memory card, and a Family Guy DVD which comes to about 200 bucks. But I was reading that PSP comes in version 3.60 or something. I remember reading about how version 1.50 could easily emulate the SNES, but I don't really know about 3.60(+).

Anyways, I was reading about something called Pandora's Battery or something like that. It said that it lets you emulate crap on the latest version of the PSP. My friend, however, told me that was unnecessary and that emulating the SNES should be as easy as 1.50. I don't if he's right or not.

So, basically, my question here is if there's a way to emulate the SNES, NES, etc. on the the Silver PSP(that comes in the Daxter pack) without the Pandora's Battery method. Like I said before, the PSP comes around version 3.60. Any help appreciated, guys.

Short answer: no.

Without 1.5 or a custom firmware (which would require going to 1.5 first, anyway), you won't emulate anything anytime soon.

I'd just order a Pandora's Battery somewhere online. The PSP game library is itself underrated. So having SNES, NES, etc. in addition to that is even better.

Forget ordering a pandora battery. Do what I did:

Create the jigstick sd card.
Cut pin 5 on the IC top of the motherboard inside the battery to pandorize it.
Boot both together and tada! Downgrader.

There are in-depth guides at MaxConsole.

So then, this is out of the question, right? It says for the "slim". I don't know if it's for the right one, though.

I should work for all the PSPs, both slim and fat . But in order to use it, you still need to downgrade it using Pandora's Battery or some other way (if there is one ). Official Sony firmware prevents homebrew from running.

I guess I'm going to have to use the Pandora's battery method. :/ It doesn't seem that hard and I've read plenty of articles, so I basically know how it works.

Make sure you're using Despertar del Cementerio, too... and don't try to use the 1.50 addon, it won't work. There are homebrew apps coded for the higher kernel versions as well, but yous till need a hacked PSP to run them.
