I just felt like following my own advice and making a new topic, so here it is. I guess I'll just continue from the discussion in Drag's thread.

Following Xkeeper's advice, I tried to darken the background a bit. The one behing this text is the normal one...

...This is 10% darkened, which doesn't really seem like much to me...

...And this is 21% more darkened than the original.

Since all of you are going to have to look at my layout everytime I post, I'm letting you choose which one to use. Is it the first, second or third one that you prefer? Or should it be even darker than 25%?

The animation under the text is kind of distracting. 20% darker helps, but not much. The best thing for readability, in my opinion, would be a background with little variance in hue or brightness. For example, Xkeeper and HyperHacker both use images as their layout backgrounds, but the images are quite close to being just a single color.

Also, I should probably point out now that your CSS should say ".Ocean" and not "Ocean" (without a dot).

The background gets abruptly cut near the edges of the textarea, you might want to fix that. Also, 30% opaqe should be good.

NightKev, I tried to darken it and made it 35%; is it dark enough now? Also, I don't understand what you mean by "abruptly cut", since the picture stops a pixel away from the edge, like any other layout, so could you also explain that?

Joe, the only times I have Ocean in my header are for the name of the layout, so there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it. I'll try to take the whole name out, if only to have less text in my header.

I'm thinking of putting some ground around the layout, as a border, but does anyone know how to make it repeat? I tried to put borders, but the image only appears once.

After quoting your first post it looks like it was just a symptom of you using a whole bunch of tables and stuff that normally wouldn't be in the layout.

It's almost dark enough, but a little more wouldn't hurt.

Shiny new layout!
----------------------------------------------------

Like I said before, a textbox is always good.

And there's an easy way to get ground at the bottom of your post using CSS and <div> tags. :p

I believe that layout is affecting link colors, which may be caused by the fact that your CSS classes all have spaces in their names.

Also, why did you use two tables? That same layout could be very easily accomplished with just one div tag. D:

Aside from all that, it looks nice.

Or a table and two cells...
