I've been having this issue for almost a year now. Firefox just won't open anymore.

It used to work perfectly, but I suspect it stopped due to me being extremely lazy and turning off the computer via "holding the "on" button until it turns off". I don't know if that's why it stopped working, but it might help.

From what I remember, the extensions I had where:
-Web Developer Tool
-AdBlock Plus
-Image Zoom
-Download Statusbar
-Greasemonkey

I think that's all. Anyways, can anyone help? I need Firefox!

Turning the PC off manually wouldn't cause that. Just uninstall and reinstall, that should fix it.

Run "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode

And see if that works. If it does, then you downloaded an extension or theme that messed things up.

Umm, see, here's the problem. I forgot to mention this. Uh, I didn't install Firefox in the default directory. I saved it in a folder in my desktop. And me being idiot, I re-downloaded it and installed it like 4 times in 4 different directories. Yeah, I know, stupid.

I guess i'll just have to uninstall all four Firefoxes...

Wow, you are just ASKING for trouble with habits like that!

Windows can--and will--throw a fit if it's not properly shut down. Those warnings MS throws at you (or used to, back in the 9x days) are actually there for a reason. The OS frequently accesses the hard drive even when idle, and the shutdown process allows it to save settings, close open file handles, write cached data to disk, and other important things. Shutting off the PC while the OS has a file open (especially if it's modifying the file) can result in corrupted data. For example, if Firefox was in the middle of modifying a configuration file when it was unexpectedly terminated, there's a very good chance that the file is now corrupted, preventing the program from starting. Worst-case scenario, you could even clobber your registry, which often takes Windows down with it.

And installing the same program four times in four different folders? That's just plain stupid.

Your best bet, first of all, is to check the drive(s) for file system errors (right-click drive in Explorer, select Properties, Tools, Error-checking). Once that's done, uninstall all four copies of Firefox and reinstall one, preferably in the default location the installer gives you. And finally, stop being lazy and shut down Windows like it tells you to.

My younger sister was doing that with her laptop, always shutting down the lazy way (since Windows Vista took forever to do it properly) ... then suddenly, after a few months, the laptop wouldn't start up at all, and it ended up being exactly because of this

Installing Firefox in different directories won't help anything either, it still saves its settings in the user's directory (C:\Documents and Settings\... or C:\Users\...), so maybe that broke in a way You could try Firefox Portable (keeps everything wherever you install it) and see if that works ...
