When at home or, better, when you go out, how often do you have a USB thumbdrive on hand?
Because I asked and USB thumbdrives are dirt cheap now...
I almost always have one on hand (or neck) wherever I go.

Usually have one but it's mostly for work and not for play.   0.0%, 0 votes
I own one; it's a nice thing to have when I need it.

Hardly use it even though I have one.

Considering that you can find decent sized USB thumbdrives for 10 bucks now, I figured it might be time to check up on how the market penetration is locally.

Personally, I have a 4GB and a 2GB Sandisk Cruzer Micro on-hand (U3 tech off) pretty much wherever I go in my front right pocket. One of the four things I need before I walk outdoors, usually. If I know that a USB won't prove useful at any given time, I probably won't have it with me, but even then I sometimes leave it in out of force of habit.

I have a cheap one, which I use to sling homework assignments around on in C++ Programming.

It also works as a catastrophe backup, sorta.

I have a thumbdrive (with very little space available to add) with me sometimes and I carry it around for play. I add things only when I feel the need to put something in it.

I almost never leave home without it.

I've got a 2-gigger that is usually empty. I mainly use it to transport files from my main compy to my laptop instead of the local wireless network... hmm... Well, at least USB2 is faster than my 100mbps wireless network.

I have two 2GB ones that I keep in my backpack at all times. Of course, I only use it on weekends to transfer files to my home PC that I've created during the week.

Edit: nearly missed my 700th post :3

I bought a 1GB stick when I was told I'd need one for school. I always carry a camera with me and the carrying case had some extra room in it, so I figured why not? I just keep it in there. Not much use, but fun to stick into unattended computers at Future Shop and fancy car stereos with USB ports on them.

There are nice portable versions of apps like Firefox, 7zip and VLC that run entirely from the stick, minimizing writes to preserve its lifespan.

I've got a 1GB drive with me almost all the time. All I really use it for is transporting word documents, text files, etc. around with me, since I never know when I may have a chance to work on stuff.

I've pretty sure I've never even half filled it up, though.

I have one, I just never use it. (Or, rather, used to use it. Now I don't. Meh.)

I've got a 2GB one attached to my keychain. It comes in handy... sometimes.

I have a 1GB drive provided by my school for homework and such, which I use frequently, as well as a 512MB drive, which I hardly ever use at all. I just don't go many places where one is required.

I got a 1GB one a long time ago when I only had dialup to downloaded stuff at school. This was when they were still almost $100. I still have it but iI don't use it very much.

I have a 1 GB one somewhere, but I don't know where- the only thing I used it for was to transfer data between computers that was too large for an e-mail...

I don't have one, but it wouldn't have much use other than backups (for which I can use DVD-R's anyway), since I can usually transfer stuff online or through the local network

My sister would probably need one for school though, to avoid using a whole CD-R for a single 430k file (like last week) ... of course, that's only because floppies are obsolete now and getting uncommon

I carry around a 2GB frequently, although depending upon how asleep I am in the morning I forget it pretty often. But I mean to have it with me as much as possible. It's very useful, mainly used for school and the roms and emulators I keep on it, our comp sci teacher is blind(figuratively speaking), and I usually finish way ahead of schedule, so it's nice. Actually, it's pretty funny, he's caught people across the room before playing games, but I'm right next to his desk and he never notices.

Shiny new layout!
----------------------------------------------------

I have a 1GB and 4GB on the same chain. It's amazing what fun (and important data) can be carried on a simple USB stick

It doesn't really help if the microSD falls out
