Was about to beat Mima in lunatic in TH01 and the game crashed exactly the second before to defeat her. You could perfectly see the ball at the left of her with only one HP left. ><

I was doing the 15-Minute Brawl a coupla weeks ago. Got it down to some 1:30 left, then had to take care of something. Paused the game, then set the controller down. Whoops, accidentally hit the Z button.

Not "bad timing," but kinda close.

In Majora's Mask, I had beaten two temples on the second three-day cycle. I save the game, exiting it, and then start playing again shortly. As soon as I start playing again, I remembered that I have to go do something, so I leave the game on and turn off the TV. When I come back, I found out that I forgot to pause, so the moon fell. I'm at the start of the first day again, and everything I had done was gone. Oh well, at least I saved right before I left, right? I hit reset, and found out that the game saves when the moon falls.
I basically had to start all over :/

Back when Super Smash Bros. Melee was fairly new I wanted to beat Adventure Mode on hard difficulty without getting a game over so that I could get the Crazy Hand trophy. I had beaten Giga Bowser and I saw Dr. Mario's congratulations screen when my Gamecube started making these weird clicking noises. All of a sudden the "disk read error" screen appeared and I knew that I was going to have to do it all over again .

It wouldn't be very hard to do it again now but back then I wasn't as good at Smash Bros. as I am today

My little sister managed to ruin a Mario Party 8 disk by spinning it in the case. We got a new disk for free, and I made sure to tell everyone to not spin disks in the case.

My little brother managed to ruin a Mario Party 8 disk by spinning it in the case. We can't get another for free.

MORAL OF THE STORY: DO NOT SPIN THE DISK IN THE CASE. And, Nintendo, at least the Gamecube disk cases were designed to prevent this kind of thing.

You know that you can just clean the disk (and possibly also the laser) and keep going, right?

Not really bad "timing", but... I was trying to get the Diskun trophy in Melee, and the only bonus I was missing was that stupid "No Damage Clear" crap. I tried the Donkey Kong down-B spam tactic (you know, the one that only works 90% of the time -when you need it to work 15 times in a row, that's not very good odds) on All-Star Mode for the billionth time or so (as I said, it's not as good a tactic as people pretend), got to the Game and Watch level, wisely realised it wouldn't work well there and beat the bastards manually (which isn't very hard). I had beaten all of them except one, still without having taken any damage, did a spinning attack towards it...
I hit him, and he died, so I beat the mode.
I also hit a barrel that spawned right in front of him as I was spinning.
The barrel exploded and added a couple percentage to my damage meter.

Yeah. I didn't touch the game again for months.
Eventually got that stupid bonus with Falco on Classic, which was a hell of a lot easier than DK-spamming All-Star.

I've had lots of those happen. I've got 130% damage and get to charging up a Smash Attack to finish off the other guy, and what should happen to spawn right between us but a Bob-omb.

This seems to happen way too fucking often in Brawl.

It's moments like that that make me wonder if the games aren't programmed to do these things deliberately.

"hurhurhur lets make it that these bo-ombs immediately spawn if two players are too close, with high percentages hurhurhur"

Anyways, I've been playing Motocross Maniacs. It's an old GB game, you race with an motorcycle, doing loops etc. You can press B to initiate a nitro boost, though you have an limited amount of them. You often need nitros to finish a level (some jumps are impossible without them)

So, I'm trying to get a good time on this one level. Managing pretty well, first lap gone, got all the power ups and loads of nitros.

But then I miss one jump, crashing the biker down, losing all power ups and spending all my nitros when I try to regain the control.

A friend of mine bumped into me. That's why I missed

Haha, man. I always hated how you couldn't finish levels without boosting. I'm suprised somebody else even knows the game!

My Game Genie and "Infinite Nitros" code were heavily used ... though I still think they should've produced one nitro boost every while (after some time from the previous one) so that levels were still completable...

My cousin had a Gameboy, which we used to play when our family visitted them. It was long missing until I found it again, when we went there to celebrate a birthday.

Her mother said that it was broken and I could take it if I wanted.

After getting back home, I fiddled with it for five minutes and whoops, it works again.

And now I'm playing Motocross Maniacs

A long long time ago, I was playing Roller Coaster Tycoon, and I had created a very good roller coaster. This was on an old computer, and as such the game would sometimes screw up, so when I was done with it the window closed for no reason.

Note that this was a LONG LONG time ago, and as such I was so angry at the game.

Here's a recent one!
I was playing Half-Life 2 for a bit, and then *poof* BSOD.
It was autosaved, but still 20 minutes away from where I was...
