What the hell? How strange. Didn't see it at all.

I did, however, feel that it seemed a bit crowded for a short segment of time -- the same segment of time as to when the bear came in.

Stupid commercials, making me feel like a fool. D:

I, too, missed the moonwalking bear, but I subconsciously noticed that it was there, although I wasn't aware of it myself.

It's very interesting.

I got the number of passes right, but I didn't even know that was supposed to be a bear.

It is rather easy to see the bear though if the video loads slowly, as sometimes it will start loading more of it and will stop the video while the bear is there.

My psychology teacher played a video very similar to this in class for us last semester. I did notice the character walking through the scene, but that might be because it was a psychology class. When she told us to count the number of passes, I figured that wasn't all there was to the video simply because it was psychology class.

I had a feeling it'd be one of those 'if you're too focused' tricks.

Works well with a cell phone.

Even realizing what I was looking for (I cheated), it is easy to miss. The reason is simply because it blends in.

If you have a bunch of identical dots bouncing around, it's going to be hard to find one that doesn't move as much. That is the case here.

The message it sends is devalued because actual cyclists will probably not be invisible or otherwise actively hiding from you.

In short: this is stupid.

That reminds me of Wii Play's "Find Me" game.

"Find the fastest Mii!"

The thing there is that there's like five different speeds.

I noticed that there seemed to be one too many people, but didn't realize that there was a guy in a bear suit. It makes sense, in a way, but I'm pretty sure being focused on the road would mean noticing cyclists, the video would be more accurately compared to if you were focused not on the other cars, but on something stupid like counting the number of dashes in the dashed lines, in which case you'd probably crash into another car anyway.

The trick they're using in the video is a technique often used by magicians called "misdirection." It puts your focus in one spot and does something somewhere else. Notice the location of the white team's basketball in relation to the bear. It's always as far away from the bear as possible. And via peripheral vision, the bear appears as a member of the other team, which probably makes most people ignore him altogether.

When driving, the idea is to be aware of all other motorists at all times. That video specifically said "only look at a portion of the people," so it isn't the same as saying someone's unobservant. Just following directions.

I also missed the bear the first time around . Although I did get the number of passes right .

This makes me think about when video games sometimes have cameo appearances in the backgrounds of cut scenes or levels that you don't usually notice because you're paying much attention to something else.

I know that Need for Speed: Carbon had advertisements in the background.

I ended up paying attention to them like I look at normal ones, even though I didn't pay attention to them at all before.

I can just get around that by not breathing at all for a few seconds, and then it continues automataically.
