Arkansas just keeps getting worse and worse (now 11th most dangerous). It's gotta be the mehicanos. :\

That isn't suprising to me, at all... When you combine an aura of depression and loss (everybody who has ever gambled there, which is quite a lot of people) with heavy emphasis on bars/casinos/drug use in general, then mix in people who've lost a lot, well...

It isn't a very good place to live.

Washington's down at around rank 20 with Illinwah at 21.

And AR's 11...

WTF...must be the meth labs in this county alone.

The media's really good at using real statistic to tell blatant lies. But since it's a statistic, people believe it!

Like Nevada. It's high-crime for the reasons Xkeeper mentioned. But that's sheer number of crimes. Most of Nevada's crimes are coming directly from Vegas, which is a good environment for that sort of thing.

I've also heard that traveling by plane is "safest" of any other type of travel. Based on what? Number of deaths per year. Fewer people die in airplane accidents than automobile accidents. Really? Go figure. With the millions of people driving cars at all hours of the day versus the relatively small number of fully-controlled flights each day... Of course there will be more fatalities. There will be more accidents, etc.

Though the way I see it, I'd much rather be in a car than a plane if the engine were to shut off.

Well if the engine were to shut off you'd probably be safest in a train than in a plane or a car- train networks are ultra-controlled and have very high safety standards, you're not going to fall from the sky and the dispatching systems (if they're doing their job) will prevent any other trains on the line from hitting you... but trains have a bad reputation thanks to Amtrak's inability to run on time...

As for crime, I see Massachusetts is basically in the middle of the list... though apparently higher danger than New York? I didn't think we were that bad...

Sweet, 9th dangerous. I'm surprised that we're not in the top 5. Oh well, maybe next year.

For a state like California, I would think we'd be closer to the top for such a list. But it is down at 38 or something With places like Oakland, Richmond, and certain parts of LA, wouldn't that weigh a lot?

Ahh, good ol' New Mexico. The Extreme Makeover people came up here recently to fix up a pastor's home, and their truck got stolen.

Wow, Arizona is fifth? :o

I guess that's not too surprising, because oh so many people sneak illegally in from Mexico. >:

I'm amazed that Texas is 14th .

So Nevada is first again this year. Not too suprising, but amazed that no other state has as much crime as Nevada.

Nevada has a valid reason to have the most crime! People lose everything in those casinos and then try to commit a crime to get everything back.

It would be interesting if they could sort by country, but not every country would be willing to cope with that.

Good old California. Car crime and destruction and mayhem must account for at least 10% of what made it 12th overall.

[joking]That's racist. [/joking]

If you think Nevada is dangerous, you should see the news about Tijuana, that city is plagued with violence that not even the police can do anything about it. Even if they managed to stop a few criminals, the rest will just retaliate with more violence.

Yes, I'm a mexican that lives in that city.

Okay...how the heck are we more dangerous than New York ._. is this based on Boston, Cambridge, and Worcester alone? Because those are the only areas I can think of being even kind of that dangerous... (And Worcester is not that bad...then again, I do not know the state super-well, I only have lived there three years kind of!)

Texas is 14 most dangerous. Stupid tractor drive-bys...anybody want to steal me back to Massachusetts, I think I'll take my chances there .-.
