If you support either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, and your chosen candidate DOES NOT get the nomination, what will you do in the general election?
Vote for the Democratic nominee

38.1%, 8 votes
Abstain... courteously.

14.3%, 3 votes
Yay McCain?

14.3%, 3 votes
Punch a Paultard   0.0%, 0 votes
The two-party system's boring and fascist anyway

33.3%, 7 votes

Since I'm sure there's a couple US-Americans here on these boards...

Simple question, really, because the primaries, at least as far as I can recall, have usually hashed themselves out by this point. Well, except for the Democratic race this year, which is still pretty polarized at this late stage. So it's probably fair to ask what you'd do, at this point, if your chosen candidate doesn't make it through.

Honestly, I'm sick of both parties, and have been for quite some time. I'd feel dirty giving my vote to either one.

I think this system could direly use a complete makeover. Not just in terms of canidates/elections, but... in general.

I would vote for Obama if I had the ability to vote.
Ron Paul seems to be a favorite around here (I've lost track of all the stupid signs), though.

And... McCain? Seriously? Somebody would vote for him?
Whoever it was, please speak up so I can ban the idiot who wants another four years of America being fucked over.

My signature says who I'd want to win, but Obama is winning instead. In my opinion Obama just doesn't seems the right person for the task. I wonder if Florida will have a re-vote as it's rumored.

If Obama wins well, nothing I can do, I still can't vote

Somewhat old wintery layout!

My view goes like this.

"NOT ANOTHER REPUBLICAN PLZKTHX"

My one vote will help ensure that.

Hillary Clinton was my preferred candidate, but now I think she basically has to drop out for the good of the party- the media has racialized the election to the point where I think that if Clinton manages to pull by the primaries, the black vote and many other Obama supporters will probably see her as stealing the election with the help of the evil undemocratic superdelegates, and won't vote in the general election- it'll basically be handing the election to McCain.

I'd still vote for Obama over McCain- McCain is way too conservative (wants to abolish Amtrak, for one) and too much of a warmonger to get my vote. Of course, here in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, I don't really need to worry about the state going Republican...

Where's the Quagmire 4 prez option

I greatly dislike Hillary, and though I'm not generally fond of the Democratic party, I know nothing about any of the Republican candidates and since I choose for the person, not the party, Obama might get my vote as he seems like a good person. This could change, though, if I find I like the Republican person more.

Still, none of them really stand out as all that great. D:

There's no "nothing" option.

On a side note, I want Obama to win because something seems strange about Clinton. It may be that she seems to solely rely on over-support from the media and other well-known people, as I believe in actual reasoning more than ethics.

Yeah, this seriously needs a "nothing" option or "What?" one.

I'm not living in USA so not much interested, but listening to the speeches of several people, Obama seems to be the most liked.

I guess Obama is the most appealing of these. None of them really interest me. The candidates I'd have liked dropped out of this race already.

I'd vote for McCain.

Because Hillary must lose.

I don't care how or why.

On another note, the very existence of parties is stupid. I'm with George Washington; why don't we all support the Constitution and stop making divisions in our own nation over nothing?

From a Canadian standpoint... oh boy this doesn't look good. If I had a vote, I'd have to vote Democrat and I guess I'd have to vote Hillary. I don't think Obama's ready yet for the top job and something about him rubs me the wrong way... I don't know exactly what though. At least Hillary can rely on Bill for advice and that - maybe not the BEST advice but better than a kick in the head...

Oh wait, Nader's running again right? I could go piss my vote away!

Honestly, my biggest concern about Obama is summed up in just two words: Deval Patrick. The governor of Massachusetts, recently elected on a platform of hope, "together we can", and all of that... (There was some story about Obama using some of Deval's speeches, but that wasn't really paid attention to when Deval said he didn't care, since he's a big Obama supporter and is a campaign director of some sort)

Governor Patrick has had a lot of difficulties getting his ideas and proposals through the state legislature, and has generally had a very steep learning curve in the process, coming up against the state's entrenched political leaders- and this is in a state where, with Governor Patrick's elections, all major offices are held by Democrats and there is now no real Republican presence with the capability to do anything... I'm worried that an Obama presidency would have a lot of the same issues.

Before I get my ass handed to me for voting on McCain, here's the thing:

It wasn't Bush's fault that we're were we are currently. It was, technically, a combination between Clinton and the Congress, along with some help from Al Qaeda. We can't seriously blame Bush fro anything. Yet.

Now, another reason I'd want McCain in can be summed up in a quoute from Hillary Clinton:

"Shared Prosperity"

Something we don't want is for America to be completely equal. We can't seriously trust that a Dem will run our country correctly, mainly because the Dems have no business in the Whit House right now. I don't care what anybody else thinks, but I believe that Bush - and every other sensible person - at least knows that a republican is a good choice, for now, and that McCain at least knows what to, and can, do what needs to be done.
