As in at a record high...

Worse, it doesn't seem to be letting up and promises to get worse. There are places in the States now at 4 bucks a gallon.

Which means it's probably hella worse in most other countries.

Spent $47 dollars to fill up my tank yesterday. And I don't even drive a lot in my car. Well, actually, if you consider work, which is 20 miles away, so 5 days a week I'm at least driving 40 miles....

I don't know what kind of fuzzy math that is, but if it's 20 miles away, you're driving at least 200 miles every week (20 * both ways * 5 days)

And yeah, the high prices are pretty bad... reason enough to just consider taking the bus for anything that it can be used for.

Remember, if the average price is $3.22, half of the stations are even higher than that.

I don't really look at the gas prices when I need to get gas. There's no going around it, I need to buy gas to get to work and when I do get gas, my tank is usually empty so I can't waste time looking for the station with the cheapest gas.

My luck is that I have to put Premium in my vehicle.

Fortunately, near where I work has some of the cheapest Premium in the area. I paid only 2.99 last I went for it.

Course this was two weeks ago.

I don't know about you guys, but I think I'll be living off public transportation for as long as I can. Sure, I'll get my license, but I'll probably only use it with my parents cars. Hopefully College won't throw a wrench into this. I don't want to waste money on buying gas just to get to class... ><

It's usually around $1.10/L ($4/gallon) here lately, still quite a bit lower than in fall 2005 when it peaked near $1.50/L

I still don't drive, but I do pay part of the gas for the guy driving me to work ... and since it's a whole 50 miles away from here, that costs me $10 per day ... can't use buses there either

As much as I may complain about this shitty small town, at least everything's within walking distance so I don't have to drive.

Hell, the grocery store's basically right behind my apartment.

Gah, people who have public transportation are lucky, there's no way to get anywhere here without driving. I don't have to worry about high gas prices yet, but it's a wonderful time to be getting a license.

About 4.54 a gallon as 1 gal = ~3.78L.

Still a lot more pricey than ours but then again there's the effect of currencies.

Yes, when I hear about how high gas prices have become, I'm glad I can take the MBTA most places... though in the news apparently they're on the verge of financial collapse (moreso than usual) So a fare increase is probably going to happen- public transit is not immune...

It's so good to live on campus and be able to walk everywhere I need to go.

Back home, though... Yeah. Fun times.

Just wait until you get to deal with maintaining your car...if you think gas is the only thing to rise well...

Oil is oil...you need that to run it. Last I went, 5 quarts of 10W-30 Val cost me about 19 bucks not counting the oil filter. This was about three weeks ago.

And people wonder why I don't have or want a car...

With the way things are, I don't think I'll be wanting one anytime in the near future, either.

Well, I'll tell you...for someone that has a mid-size old SUV that eats mileage, I've got it up to 20 mpg at best for what I use it to do. Drive is 25 miles round-trip every day, five days a week...some uses outside of it obviously.

Usually, I can go on a little less than two weeks worth. I put in premium. That usually costs 30-40 bucks per fill up, because I don't wait for it to dip below 1/4 a tank...I usually fill it at the halfway mark (or at 200 miles or so) and always to the top, never 10 bucks and that's that. It's bad for the vehicle otherwise.

That said. For me, that's 80 or so a month. I bring home about 1800 a month after taxes and so forth. That's really not that bad of a deal for me. If I can't afford that, then there's something wrong.

Besides, most people that deal with cars these days probably get it paid by their mommies and daddies anyways. No one seems to do that stuff anymore unless it's handed to them or they get fucked out of luck and/or are on their own.
