Well, even back then, there wasn't any reason to go to Nintendo consoles; the N64 (quite frankly) sucked, the GameCube wasn't popular... Everybody and their mother had a PS(2), though.

The N64 wasn't BAD, it was just a lot harder to do anything with, and had less space to do so.

I may be wrong, but I think that when he says "the N64 sucked", he means "the N64's games sucked".

While I'm inclined to disagree, as I have more games that I still play for my N64 than for any other console, there really wasn't much selection in comparison to the Playstation. I was just lucky enough to stumble on a few lesser-known games, and haven't had much similar luck on other systems.

Pricing concerns in comparison to the PS1 are also important to note. I can't comment on the price of the console itself, but the games were almost always $10-20 more, in my experience.

That, and the controller was a piece of shit. As far as I'm concerned, that's indisputable fact.

I was more referring over to the terribly wasteful layout and crappy control sticks myself, but yeah, that's a good point too.

N64 games were awesome. D: It's the hardware that sucked.

I still wish I had my N64 back .

Most of the games I had were some great ones, only to have it stolen . All of my controllers still work.

Hmm...

Image...

My question is...how big do these DS carts go again? I thought Disgaea: AoD, for instance, was something around the 500MB mark for size. That going to mean that they're gonna dull it down for the DS?

AoD is 700M or so compressed, and I think DS carts go up to 128MB.

There's been a lot of speculation on what's getting cut, and a lot of people think it's the voices...

Do keep in mind, most of this board would fall unquestionably into the "nintendo fanboy" category

A bit more than that "supports cards up to 2 gigabit (2048 Mb or 256 MB) in size,[21] which is four times the amount of memory that the largest Nintendo 64 cartridge was able to store (512 Mb or 64 MB" -- wikipedia

Still, voices or not, it gives me another game to pick up.

That, and when I re-acquired an N64, I had cheap and easy access to a considerable variety of games, the majority of which were $10 or less.

Voices seems like the only thing they could cut, really. What else is there that takes up that much space that they can remove without completely screwing with the game. Of course, taking the voices out screws with the game a hell of a lot anyway, certain scenes wouldn't be anywhere near as good. Still, I'll probably grab it when it comes out. So happy I was right about this.

AoD is 400MB. I have the ISO on me. Also, taking out the Japanese voices, dumbing down a few 3D effects, they could keep the voices in easily.

NIS America wastes NO time, do they? Wonder what the DS will get as an extra - Flonne Mode? (Actually, just put Wi-Fi on the game for online battles.)

Graphics do look damn good on those screens, though; looks like the top screen will act as a radar.

(And while I'll probably have Disgaea PS2 good and beat by then... I'll probably end up playing through this. Even if it's a PSP port, I can just play through Etna Mode.)

And as for Rhapsody... NICE. I'll be looking to see if that gets an American release. (Wonder what else they could theoretically port... La Pucelle?)

The PSP port has network battles, too, but... ad-hoc.

So you can't actually play anybody, unless you happen to know somebody who also has it (hahahaha)

I doubt we'll see an online version. Lest we forget dur friend codes, which are excellent at ruining the experience.

You also have to take into account that Disgaea gets really stupid to netplay after a very short time.

Potentially not having voices would suck, but oh well.

What, exactly, defines a game as "pointless"? You'd think all would.

Uh, in any case, not having voices would pretty much ruin Disgaea. I'm not one for voice acting, but most of the humor comes from the life the characters gain from it.
