It was nice to see an article that didn't kick innocent mod chip users in the nuts for no reason. It pretty much explains the whole movement of "Homebrew" in terms so that anyone could possibly understand it. Maybe now the world will see that in most cases it's not piracy...

Maybe I'm just being a cynic but I really do think that in most cases, people mod for piracy, pure and simple.

Still, nice to see that it's not being portrayed as some evil nasty thing.

Yeah, you keep thinking that...

99% of the time, modding has nothing to do with homebrew.

Well, I think the idea is that it CAN be used for homebrew. And a lot of people use it for that, just... not solely that. There are a select few who only use modded systems for homebrew, which is perfectly fine... but the temptation's always there.

The "can be used for" argument is really worthless... it's really what it actually gets used for.

I'm not saying anthing against modding, just the idea that it's used mostly for legal purposes is a very wrong idea.

This is true, 99% of the time people fall for the temptation.

Kind of reminds me of P2P, actually. It doesn't have to be used for piracy, but often is.

132258> <+Tanks> WuM is a Wii update manager which is capable of analyzing a

Nintendo Wii ISO image and displaying information about it including if it
contains an update. If it does then it allows you to remove the update or
replace it with another update. It's homepage has a tutorial in French and
also has a FAQ.

132327> <+Tanks> We all know people like to import games from other regions, but

Buy game. Make backup. I'm missing the irony here. Making a Wii backup only requires a certain model of a few LG drives, or an SD Gecko.

That's kinda' what I was getting at. Plus I don't pirate Wii games anyway. I mostly use the DS for emulation/Homebrew purposes only. Save for the few games I grab off the internet to play before I buy it. Probably not the most legal of ways, but in the end, it's just.
