*113231 <Xkeeper> what was the /kill for
*114210 <blackhole89> Two pages of rapid-succession floods
*114214 <blackhole89> flood* even
*114222 <Xkeeper> so then use kick+ban
*114224 <blackhole89> 20:23:41> * ArBeWhat fucks Tyty210 back

*114229 <blackhole89> etc.
*114238 <blackhole89> it was not just a channel-level thing
*114306 <Xkeeper> then where else was it?
*114330 <blackhole89> it's not about "where else"
*114338 <blackhole89> it's something that should, in theory, be handled by flood protection
*114400 <Xkeeper> +f
*114406 <blackhole89> and now, kindly, shut up
*114410 <blackhole89> because if he did that on your channel
*114414 <blackhole89> you'd come crying for a gline
*114423 <blackhole89> and scream of operator bias if it wasn't granted
*114426 <Xkeeper> no, I'd fucking ban him
*114431 <Xkeeper> if they did something that I couldn't prevent
*114435 <Xkeeper> i.e., flooding all my users with invites
*114439 <Xkeeper> then yes, I would ask for a gline
*114450 <Xkeeper> but kicking and banning from my channel is well within my power
*114542 <blackhole89> if you banned him from your channel, he wouldn't have a list of users to chaininvite anymore either
*114558 <blackhole89> and it's a network stability thing
*114610 <Xkeeper> hello my name is printscreen you may have heard of me
*114613 <blackhole89> if it makes you more happy, I can achieve the same effect by just uncommenting the flood protection
*114629 <blackhole89> like it's everywhere else

Clarifications:
- blackhole89 (who is unfortunately an IRCop here as well, sigh) decided that, in order to stop a problem in his channel, he would simply kill the users off the entire network, bypassing the whole point of channel kicks
- he also thinks that, faced with the same situation (as I have been more times than I can count, thanks #suburbia) I would whine for a gline, despite prior experience suggesting that I would kick and ban first
- he also thinks that "flood protection is required", forgetting that most IRC servers are smart enough to tell the difference between a 5-line paste and a 200-line spamfest
- - and also that people are too stupid to split things into multiple pastes so they don't get killed for "Excess Flood"
- - and so on
- blackhole89 also forgets basic concepts of computers, like cutting and pasting (well, maybe not cutting ha ha joke)
Needless to say I am, once again, lightly slapping my head in frustration.
(even better, earlier today when I mentioned the IRC networks doing "*.djbouche.net" on whois instead of the server name like they usually do, he thought it was so I could ban anybody using his server from joining #x, haha; I was just going to recommend those users to use a non-hosted-at-my-home-connection server like Ailure's and a few others)
