Bah, lucky Shadic, those things are awesome. Aside, although my SNES is still moving, it's wires are pretty much dead, and if you so much as poke the damn thing while it's running, it'll reset and probably take out the save data of whatever game you're playing. It's been like that ever since my little brother kicked it a few years ago. My NES started doing things like that before it eventually died, though.

The AV Famicom 2 is better

It's actually a NES 2, but it has (suprise) audio/video cables and not just RF.

Mine is like that too. The power cord is loose, so it shuts down at the drop of a pin, and the cartridge connector is loose, so not having saves erased during power-on attempts is rare.

So am I the only one whose NES started acting up on them years ago, but the SNES has never given them any trouble? The cord to one of my SNES controllers is a little frayed in a small area though, mostly due to how it was stored, but the system itself has been the most reliable for me. My genesis just crapped out on me years ago. My NES works once you fight with it for a half hour, but it's a pain in the ass, and as soon as you put in a new game you have to go through the whole process all over again. My N64 held up for a while but then one of my controllers just decided to permantly screw up one day. It was a third party one though so that might be why. Then I had no troubles for a while, but I think I eventually played the crap out of it because now it's starting to act like the NES, picking and choosing when it wants to play the games. The games I played most often are the ones that never want to load for some reason. But yeah my SNES still works like a charm, although it has since turned to its yellow brown hue.

My N64 doesn't load games half the time
And my SNES still works almost perfectly, once you get it plugged in. The RF adapter is shot, so it's annoying to plug in.

Well, my SNES still works perfectly fine. I didn't know so many people were having trouble with them.
Also: My NES still works, but it's hard to get to work sometimes. (Although, those who have an NES know that this is common.)

My SNES still works too (or at least did last year), other than the power plug being loose ... then the Genesis and Nintendo 64 still work fine, even the Master System (except for a broken RF connector, so it's hard to plug it), although they're mostly sitting unused now

But my NES died 7-8 years ago, it still turns on and all but I get a black screen and no sound (both with cable and audio/video) ...

I'm one of those whose NES hasn't given them any problems, actually.

...How does everyone have such weird console problems? My SNES was bought used, so that may be why it's not in as good condition as my other consoles...

Both my SNES and NES are shelved but ARE in working condition. I just need the cords. The SNES is missing games, however, because I had to lose them all at a point.

Need to get a SFC at some point to play Chougi Ranbu Hen, though.

Uh, you can just remove the pins in the cartridge slot; there's no lockout aside from that.

All my consoles work fine, aside from the occasional dirty connector problems. I try to take really good care of them, and I'm not afraid to bust out the Q-Tips and alcohol and dig into the dark corners where the cruft collects. A clean console is a happy (and working) console!

My consoles are- actually, I have no idea =o... The main old console I've been using is my Sega CDX, which has worked mostly flawlessly, though the composite video plug is acting odd... (the port on the system looks somewhat like that of an S-Video- I wonder if it's just a coincidence, or if I could use an S-Video cable on the CDX?)

Something to go herePosty post is posty:Something else to go here
My consoles, (N64, and SNES) work fine, but I don't have a power cord for the SNES, and the N64's controllers are dieing.

My grandparents up north in Athabasca still have an NES and tons of games for it. (SMB3 anyone) works fine too.

Ooooh, a CDX. You do know how rare those things are, right?

As for S-Video, no, you can't. You have to hack up the video encoder inside and add a separate port, which I'd be very, very afraid to do with something so rare.

uh oh, bump but it's got somewhat of a purpose

SNES problems are still there, though I've been getting them a little less... Kirby's Avalanche works perfectly, as does Faceball 2000, but I think a few of my other games might not be cleaning so easily... especially Super Turrican. That one always loves to glitch up in specific areas, too, like world 1-1, 2-2, and 2-3... but it's gotten so severe at times that I've just given up on trying to complete it. :/

...also, BlackNemesis, how the hell did your Genesis die? I've had nothing but good experiences with mine... games don't boot if they're dirty, but the graphics haven't ever fucked up... save for one time, in Mega Turrican, but that was... a single sprite, which could be an actual bug in the game. :/

Ha ha ha! Well, I guess I should have rephrased that. Re-reading what I wrote back then, the way I said it was misleading. It wasn't really the genesis's fault. I didn't really use it anymore so several years ago, I let my sister keep it in her room since she also played a few games on it. By the time I got the urge to play another game on it, I went in there and found that the system itself had been shoved under the bed gathering dust and God knows what else all that time, the power cord had been cut through, one cord was missing altogether, and the games I had lent her, including some of mine that I didn't want her near were apparently in a box of junk that she had left out in the rain for a week! I really should have known better though. She doesn't even take care of her own stuff let alone anyone elses.

My N64 and SNES still work fine. Only thing is 1 of the 2 spare SNES systems, and several N64 controllers, were among the many things stolen from me. So I can play just single player N64 games right now...

I played on some guy's SNES a looong time ago. All I remember is playing Bubsy and Megaman X and some Kid Klown game. I do have a working N64 + expansion pak, though.
