I would personally recommend one of DeltaAnime or EFNet... and would advise to stay off of either Freenode or OFTC (they really hate non-software-related channels).

But being that I never visit Jul's IRC anyway, whatever

I dislike Freenode and have never heard of OFTC, and DeltaAnime is (or at least, was) netsplit hell.

I will wait longer for DJBNet.

If anyone is in contact with server admins (Akira?) could you wrangle to allow connections on port 7000? My arseface of an ISP has 6667-6669 totally broken to the point where I can't remain connected for more than a few minutes most times; 7000 seems to work though.
