I sent someone a torrent for a Wii game on another forum.

Here is what I got back.

1. Asking for a Wii Emulator? Come on!
2. Why ask for something you don't know how to use?
3. Playing on a PC? *teconmoon suppresses a laugh.

I wouldn't expect someone pirating new games to have an awful lot of brain cells.

Wiimotes can be used with a PC, which is awesome.

You forgot turning (i.e., to face away from screen)

If you were using ESDF instead of WASD, you could use A and G for that. (Then W/R for rotating, I/K for up/down tilt, J/L for towards/away)

Of course, you'd need a third hand (or a good foot) to do the D-pad, then there's the trouble of A/B/1/2/+/-/HOME...

1. It's not too unreasonable, the Wii isn't very much more powerful than the GCN... and emulators for that exist.
2. heh

Or... use a Wii remote? (Requires Bluetooth support, USB dongles can be had for $1)

But! There isn't a Wii emulator.

The plot thickens.

Please correct me if I am incorrect. I think that developers have one, but that's all I know of.

Oh I'm sure it won't be long until someone starts one. As for how long until anything is playable at a decent speed... don't hold your breath.

Wiimote + PC = awesome, though. (edit: wtf I said that twice )

I would imagine Wii emulation to be much closer--and much more playable on a current PC--than any other current-gen system, since it's really just a dressed-up GameCube.

The 360 should be easily playable on the PC; after all, it IS a PC.

360 doesn't use an x86 compatible CPU...

You're confusing with the first Xbox, which used a Pentium III. (ReactOS was actually developing a subsystem to run Xbox executables natively, heh)

Even if that funny Wiimote/keyboard idea could be thought about, many keyboards don't allow too many multiple keypresses simultaneously - be it a cheap one, a non-existent driver or a limitation within our operating systems. But at least that keyboard idea for a Wiimote is way more accurate than trying to "emulate" an analoge stick via keyboard in terms of intensity: Something like "tapping stick left very silently" by pressing "m", "moving stick left a slight bit more (n)", ending in "moving stick left as far as possible (for y)"

Hm, at first I didn't get your comment, but thinking about it... Are you perhaps using a German keyboard (since your location is in Germany...) Then M, N, and Y would be in the same row, while on the US QWERTY standard M, N, and Z are in the same row...

Don't the Xbox 360 and the Wii use similar PowerPC-based processors? (Though the rest of the hardware is completely different, so that probably rules out a Wii emulator for the 360 )

Aside, I could see it working rather well, in the far future. Especially since the Wiimote can work with computers, I just wouldn't compare it to GC emulation. As for the Wii-on-360, eh, who knows, the 360 is certainly more powerful than the Wii, and it has a similar processor, but PCs are infinitely more powerful than the GC and PS2, and they still don't work right.
