I had one (1) message in Discord deleted and proceeded to make a huge, huge mess about how it was a violation of free speech and how moderators are supposed to be spam janitors and nobody should have the right to tell me not to talk about school shootings

Clock speed only tells how many cycles it can execute per second. Different instructions do different amounts of work and take different amounts of cycles on different CPUs, so just comparing number of cycles isn't much help. Like saying car X is faster than car Y because its gas pedal can go down further.

According to this random website, the Pentium M beats Celeron and Athlon XP.

I want a new computer. Unfortunately, that requires money that I don't have.

My site is mostly links to free software. Guides on using said software will be put there eventually. Sooner if you bug me about it.

For comparison:

(Mine) AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+: 893
(My laptop which sets itself on fire) Pentium 4 3.0 GHz: 469
(You have this in mind) Celeron 2.7 GHz: 382
(Yours) AMD Athlon XP 2800+: 382
(My downstairs comp) Pentium 4 2.53 GHz: 350

From what I'm seeing, if you want decent H.264 performance, you'll want an Athlon 64 X2 939 or AM2 slot thing, or one of those new Celeron D/M/whatever things. Or a Pentium Core Duo. Of course, all of those cost money, but H264 is CPU intensive.

Huh. Never knew my CPU was so powerful. I need to punish it with tough stuff to do more often.

I've got the same one. It's pretty nice, but it's definitely more suited to multitasking than sheer computing power, since most programs aren't designed to fully utilize both cores. I would imagine single-core performance to be somewhere in the 400s.

Yeah, not to mention it's not at full power either unless the program's 64-bit. I got a 64-bit browser, and can say it's awesome, but... that's about it.
