...got translated.

TOOK 'EM LONG ENOUGH!

Seems there's a CT hack also up over there.

See, this is why I should look at RH stuff more often.

Weird. PdP had not that much text, the characters could be looked up easily, since there were no kanji in the dialogues I think (although it is confusing without kanji sometimes). Of course, just an idea - I don't know how hard it actually is, when it comes to translating some text boxes and/or the hacking amount (simply using a hex editor to translate?).

I can't imagine it would've been too hard either...as with a lot of games that are out there that I think should have been given time and effort to finish or even start long ago.

The problem is simply priority and people wanting/able to do it...if they don't match a given game then it just won't be translated until someone's willing or able to do it.

That said at least one of the Madou games is translated...

Will ... yeah. I thought putting my hands on the tutorial in Sutte Hakkun. But again, this game has ... LOTS of text, I have a time hole (not enough spare time to handle university stuff _and_ putting in effort for a good translation), and I'd have to translate from Jp into English - and since English is not my native English, it would be very hard make it sound "right", not too stiff but not too lenient either. And I am simply not good enough because of it. Identifying kanji in games with not too low resolution is extremely easy with help of the internet, if you know the radicals. Problem is informal language sometimes, missing particles ...

And the question is: Close to the original or not?
Let's mention that retranslation of Breath of Fire II by d4s, he and some other hackers translated from Japanese directly into German language, put in fancy HMDA effects, a song (!) and other cool stuff - but although accuracy is very important, it just doesn't fit there.
Japanese tend to use double words often, like "to colour something with colours", of course two different words.

So I also think, like in any other language it is similar like me?
Mayme some people simply want to have everything perfectly, but cannot do (yet)?

I have a sneaking suspicion it involves that fact that you don't really need to understand the text to play the game, and the fact that it WAS already professionally translated (and localized). I can't really imagine the plot being horribly interesting. Granted, I haven't actually played this translation yet, but a good plot is hardly something the genre is well known for.

This is sort of a "who cares" thing because we already have a "translated" version of sorts, and the translation is mostly irrelevant anyway (like Adamant said).

It wasn't "professionally translated"; when you turn it into a completely different game, it tends to stop being a translation and starts just being a localization.

I haven't touched this yet, but considering the ending images and some other things, I would say it's a nice novelty to have. Maybe not incredible or revolutionary, but interesting... although I can already see some errors just from RHDN's screenshots.

In other news, this was released on the first. Somebody is very, very far behind...

Which is actually the one you can relatively play withouth reading the text... (Well the genesis MM1 gives you "smilies" with the text in battle...)

Call me crazy, though, but I'd rather play an RPG for the story most times...not just for the battle system. There are rare exceptions to this rule...I mean I even gave Xenosaga II the benefit of doubt because of the story...but I HATED the battle system as everyone did.

That of course goes withouth saying I mean, it's kinda pointless to play an RPG withouth its story...
It was more of me complaining how MM1 isn't translated, considering the game heavily relies of what it's being said to the point it is barely playable like that, which kinda increases the chances of a game to be translated.

Yep. This was my second-to-last remaining rom hacking "Holy Grail". Now that it came true, there's only just one left. Dumping the compressed graphics of Mega Man 7 into a .bin file so they can be viewed in standard editors like Tile Layer Pro.
