Isn't that Fire Emblem SNES it shows though?

I'm still not too keen on Brawl. Games with widely-publicized delays tend to turn out strange...

I dunno. The screenshot seems to focus more on Porky/Pokey.

Eon: That is indeed the SNES version (Fire Emblem: Monshō no Nazo), which included an enhanced version of the original game; the first level in this remake is the one being shown.

I'm very suprised they didn't mention it on the US website; with that and Fire Emblem, especially being out in the open, it feels like we're just getting a game with dumbed down contents.

The lack of Mother 2 on the US site is especially distressing, especially since it was actually translated and released here.

It's as if Nintendo wants people to forget the series. Reminds me of a few games originally sold here that had GBA ports, yet the GBA version didn't get translated. Mother 2 and some Famicom Mini ones. The Legend of the Mystical Ninja also.

This is actually quite interesting if you think about it. It's either going to directly use the shop service for the VC games, or it will have its own ROM and emulators coded in. I guess for the sake of space they'll be using the VC service, but it would be interesting if they did put the ROMs on there.

Considering it says you don't need to be connected to the internet to use that feature, it looks like that very well may be the case.

As for Earthbound/Fire Emblem, it's probably still in there, they just didn't show it because the series(es?) are more popular/well-known in Japan than anywhere else.

I give it two weeks before someone finds a way to shut off the demo timers on the games and then has full games at their disposal.

I actually like this idea. Having the demos is a great way to try out old games without actually having to buy them off the Virtual Console. I can see whether or not I like the games before I download them.

Well, it seems some may like it and some may not, but this is just my opinion.

This is the first Super Smash Bros Brawl Update that I truly think does not belong in the game.

I don't really see what all the complaining is about. It's a good thing because - shockingly - there are gamers who haven't played those games. A lot of us have but people will pick up the game without ever having played, say, SMB. So they can at least try it for a few minutes to see what the fuss is about, and if they like it then they can grab it on the VC.

The article also alluded to "surprises" so maybe there's a hidden game or two in there? Like maybe a full game? :\

(This should also mean that the Everyone's Nintendo Channel comes out here before this game. Would make sense even though this doesn't require the net.)

That reminds me... I'm actually rather suprised there's no "demo game" option available for Virtual Console games.

Giving a five-minute play demo wouldn't be that hard, would it? Eh...

That's exactly why I think it's a good thing. For example, I think Ice Climbers looks worth a try so I can play a demo of it and if I find it interesting enough, I'll buy it off Virtual Console.

Also, here's hoping to a translated version of Fire Emblem Seisen no Keifu coming to our shores on VC sometime. (I wish...)

Very nice point with this one. I know most of you guys have friends younger than any of mine, but I do know a guy who's still in high school and who hasn't had the same exposure to videogames as I have. He'd have been, what, 6 years old before he was old enough to really understand what games are all about? At the earlist, he would have come into the picture around the Nintendo 64 days, not the NES days.

It's been kinda fun showing him the old times. No, Wave Beam did not originate in Metroid Prime. No, Luigi's white overalls weren't originally for his Fire Flower costume, nor did those graphics come from Super Mario Bros. DX for Game Boy Color. And for pete's sake, Super Smash Bros. Melee was NOT the first game in the franchise.

In any case, these game demos will at least help to educate the younger audience.

Oh, wow! My day is filled with smarties and skittles at this news!

Also, another (fake?)character select screen.

It uses official Macaiah art, not a new model.

That's one way of it being fake.

I think that it's a good idea to have demos of the classic games that the characters originally came from. Those who have never figured out where the characters came from can enjoy the classics without having to pay for the Virtual Console.

Mario can be KO'd at 17% by a fully charged side smash from King Dedede. So from the characters we know, Dedede's fully charged Side Smash is the most powerful move in the game.

I didn't know that . It might be fun to try that out .

Another way is seeing that Mewtwo is in there and if the sticker updates thing is right, he's not playable.

Even though it's a fake shot, I tried figuring who everyone is. Two I didn't get were the one right of C. Falcon and the one right of Lucas.

Edit: Just read in the new part of the SSBB Iwata Asks interview that Sakurai asked Kazushige Nojima, the man who created the storyline for games like Final Fantasy VII to help him develop the storyline for the Subspace Emissary. FFVII. Wow, I'm really looking forward to the Adventure mode now.
